I am not a professional Photographer, they have stolen about 20 of my photos, because photos is not a business for me, If I ma disappointed for their behaviour I am proud that some of my photos has been selected. I am very sorry for professional photographer and I hope that being China in WTO something can be done, I have the same problem in my business Chines copied evrything without any rispect and somebody should stop them.

I don't beleive people saying are not interestes in rating, PN is based on rating this is a fact, there a lot of other photo web site without rating. Mike I understand what you are saying but you have to understand that system as it is it is not working well and a lot of good photographer are not posting good photos because they don't want to reduce their avarage rate so hardly reached. It is not my case but I know a lot and It's a pity that I acnnot see some ggod photos where i can learn a lot. it's very hard to have an high avarage of a big quantities of photos. I thnik that moderators are to be patient but also they are the only one that can really check the system and they should help PN to survive because is slowly dying.

Alexa, can you tell me more about new and old scoring system in skating. U are right when you say that we are not winning any medal, but wherever there is rating or scoring, people like to compete in a fair competition. The main point is how avoid or limit the 3\3 anonymous given without any technical reason only to do out of spite. I am year since many years and I built my photograph reputation along the time trying to improve my technique, my point of view and quality of my photos, I try to get this from rating, from the other pictures of good photographer and from comments that are less and less, because people is afraid to be missunderstood and to receive low rate. For me rating has a good value and I am proud to have an avarage rate of 5.79, so when I thnik I put a nice photo, I hope to see it in the top photos so I can receive some comments and also some other people can appreciate my work. That's why I am disappointed receving for the same photo 7\7 6\6 and also 3\3 without any comment. It is always happend but now is more and more. I am sure that these low rate are coming always from the same people. I am not saying that rating is so important and many times I received low ratinmg accepting, but now I can see that day by day PN is loosing the spirit of the beginning and quality of pictures is going down because a lot of good photographer left the website.

anonymous rate after two days you posted the photo? A suggestion: why system

do not delete alway the highest and lowest rating as they do in many olympic

sport, like gymnastic, skating and so on?

It's soem weeks that I am not able to add a new photo. I tried many times

witrh different photo and with same photo I already added in the past and

always with same procedure but the following message is coming evry time. Did

you change something to upload a picture?

I think Will is right. I uploaded this picture some days ago and I received some critique WITHOUT ANY RATING so I posted but most probably the system considered only critique and date of uploaded as date valid for top photos. Thank you to all .

I would like to know why my picture "trees early in the morning" is

not in TOP PHOTOS with this rating: There are 11 anonymous raters

who rated the photo in the "Rate Recent Photos" feature, with an

average score of 5.91 for Aesthetics, and 5.36 for Originality. Only

the anonymous ratings in the Rate Recent feature are used in some of

the Top Rated Photos rankings. Thank you.

I know that this subject is already discussed many times. I have to

say that it's impossible to have "perfect rating" and now it's more

fear that in the past. Sometimes rating depends on the moment you

post, in some moment and in some days looking the top photos the

average is lower than other days. What I do not like is excees in

rating so I suggest that at the end of anonymous rating the lowest

and highest rate shall be deleted. Now with the impossibility to

give back the same rating within 14 days already avoid abuse for

this kind of rating.I suggest also to oblige to see the picture in

large view during rate recent in order to take the right time before

rating. This rating is already used in many olympic sport. I would

also know when and how the deleted rating against abuse are

reconsidered. Happy New Year 2006 and beatiful picture to everybody.

I know that rating, may be, is not the main issue of photo.net but

it's an important aspect so I would like to give a new porposal.

Just for example: I have a picture that 11 NOT anonymus gave 6.27

6.00 and 10 anonymous raters who rated for the same photo with an

average score of 5.20 for Aesthetics, and 4.90 for Originality.

Total rate is 5.76 and 5.48 , yestarday the same picture had the

totale rate of 6.18 and 5.76 because some anonymus rate on new

member was blocked, member that gave 3\3. I do not understand why

now the rate has been accepted again. In some other my picture some

high rate 6\6 6\7 has been blocked for the same reason .Why we do

not eliminate the rate higher or lower more than 30% from average,

after 10 rating? another solution could be to eliminate the 2

highest and 2 lowest rating. Everybody knows that NOT anonymus rate

can bring some anomalous and forced rating but also anonymus can

bring the same. Rate recent mode sometimes push the memeber to rate

without dedicating much time to look the picture, if you are obliged

to leave a comment, without name, for sure you spend more time on

the picture to give the right value. These are only proposal hoping

to improve the system even if everybody knows that it doesn't exist

a perfect rating

Up to now I didn't care about rating time but after receiving

different rating with more or less same picture but uploaded in

different time I was thinking if rating have any relation with time

you upload photos for critique. For example if you are in Europe and

you upload in the morning you will find sleepy European

photographers, Asian people which are in the afternoon, and American

people that are still sleeping because they are in the middle of the

night. May be here some photographers have special time strategy!!

to delete a rating (1\1) of a picture that has 4.76 as avarage

rating due to a 1\1

I suggest a new rating system. As I already said in another post .In

the critique forum the quality level of pictures is not very high

and rating too, so if you do not have friends that are visiting your

workspace or you are not able to get in a short time (1 -3 days) at

least 3 good rating so to go in TOP photos it's difficult get rating

to the picture in workspace. My proposal is to add a new additional

rating system, a weekly knock out competition: photographer post a

picture and the match is among two pictures every time, The table of

matches will be with photographer with highest avarage rate against

with lower and so on. No rating, Everybody just choose one of the

two pictures after 11 members vote one of the 2 pictures will go to

the next turn, at the end the top 16 pictures will go to top photos

and can also receive rating. Mine is just a pleasant proposal trying

to be less serious about our picture.

I was away from forum for long time due to busniess trip. I

discovered new rating system. In the critique forum the quality

level of pictures is not very high and rating too, so if you do not

have friends that are visiting your workspace you do not have rating

and that's what happened to my pictures. What you suggest?

My proposal was not to improve rating system,I know: new rule new trick, but only to propose something new, trying to innovate PN. However in Rate Recent you can see on left side the name of phtographer.

Just to keep PN less serious and more funny. Because it seems that

rating system starts to fail the purpose of PN I propose a new

additional rating system, every week a tournament among photos. A

knockout elimination. Two at the time, without name of photographer

without any previous rating, everybody can participate with only one

or max two pictures per week, each match everybody can choose one of

the two pictures ( only one rating for match, no name, no

comment) , elimination by elimination day by day to the final. I

know that could happen a match between two different subject or two

completely different pictures, but it doesn't matter at the end the

best picture will be in the final and this game shall be just for

fun. I don ' t want to diminish PN I know that is full of

professional photographers but it's just to enliven the site.

In an another 3D we discuss about nude picture and rating. I agree

mostly with all of you. We know that PN have some problem on rating:

it's dangerous to critique, low-high rating by friends or enemy,

everybody know such problems. Finally I personally think that there

is no solution but I think that still PN is a good place where to

see and exchange nice pictures. Looking on the top photos I can see

that majority of photos are good pictures, reading the thread of

forum I can meet a lot of nice, funny, smart people, this for me

compensate the bad side of PN. Just for fun I would like to start a

hit parade of more popular subject : You can just copy and paste

and put your rating. (Why ??? because I want to take a picture with

all these subject together to get the highest rating !!!!! )

I have nothing aginst nude photo as animal photos, I can appreciate some, as beatiful shot even if are not my favourite pictures, but it's clear to everybody that these kind of subject will receive always more and better rating than other subject. I am thinking for my next picture: a nude woman with a bird in a landscape with sunset. To avoid strange missunderstanding: I am joking.

Day by day I can see strange member with strange nick with very few

terrible picture giving rating very strange, day by day I can see

terrible or good photographer giving a lot of high rate just to get

a good rating back, day by day I see rating becoming more important

than picture, day by day even if I do not put anymore picture on

critique forum I get rating from new nick with no picture or 2 3

terrible picture how they know me? Why more and more some member

use different nick to give free rating

The thread is becoming too long and boring. My concern was for this beautiful site not for me specifically, I had good rating from many people and I thank everybody for generosity, I was just impressed by some member with rating average 2.03\2.03 or people that give rate and disappear or some that have many registration ( I saw in an other 3d) . I agreed that there is exaggeration also from the other side , some easy high rate may be hoping to have the same back , that?s life that?s people.
