  1. Film will go, but it will take some time for the B & W film combination to go. Nor should it.

There is enough money to be made and fine prints to be displayed.

To go out and shoot and display the capabilities of film is the answer to keeping great film

    imaging companies.

The market will decide, but we are also the market.

I'll keep my M6 TTL, Olympus OM1, Minox GTE and Nikon D200 side by side.

I love em all and they love me :)

  2. Based on what I saw up there, I'd say you have it well covered. If there was something else

that might give you some great shots, I'd say the Nikon fisheye 10mm in conjunction with NX

    would be terrific. Enjoy.

  3. Do you think so?

It should appeal to some parts of the market, but as a previous mutliple '9' series Minolta

user, I see the quality of the bodies going downhill fast.

A lawnmower designer could have done better. It's plain ugly plastic (IMHO).

Sony needs to announce their intentions to the holders of Minolta lenses.

Yes,,,,they understand the allegiance to the pro market is well gone (it's why I changed to

Nikon), but there are some devout glass holders that expect a decent body of Minolta

    heritage.

Not on the cards from Sony I fear, otherwise I would have kept my lenses. I think I chose

    right.

  4. Wendy, the 18-200 VR is quite a decent macro performer for what you need. The 800 flash is

worth it and not much larger than the 600. I debated this myself and others have given the

reasons to do it here. The Nikon school is very good and also covers NX software. I think it's

worth it and I got a lot out of discussions with other photographers.

  5. Actually........just one more thing, I almost lost the whole deal had it not been for that

flickering display. I have the hand grip attached to the bottom of the battery pack!

  6. Remember guys..........count on CD's and hard drives as 5-8 years life span.

I just had this conversation with a professor at the Rochester Institiute of Technology.

Film archives much longer under proper conditions, so don't be lax on digital re archiving.

    Cheers.

  7. For me it's a great travel lens. I've got more keepers with this than many other combos. I'd

rather have a decent shot than none at all. I'd buy it again, but I am sure there are some

better quality Nikon lenses out there. I did some work with a 60 mm 2.8 macro recently

(butterfly house) and I have to say that a few of the steady hand held shots I took with the

18-200 were just as good with the VR switched on. It's very versatile and light.
