I have been looking through Bower's book on Leica Lenses, but not finding an
answer to my question.
What is the difference in lens structure/formulation between the elmar
and the elmarit?
I have a couple of 5cm elmars, coated and uncoated. My sole elmarit
is an M mount, while both elmars are SM.

Just curious, but has anyone sent them a bill for use of the pix?
It's probably useless, but the might get the message if we all did that!

I do not have a Voigtlaender, but I do have 21, and 14mm Mamiya Sekor lenses, and I can say that the 21mm is a very nice lens to use for almost any shot that needs a wider angle of view. The 14mm is a semi-fisheye, and has its limitations, but I have ofund a few sites where it works very well, e.g. shooting a choir or orchestra from the back of a band shell. Gets the whole bunch and the audience in the shot!

The original mercury type cells are no longer available legally, but Radio Shack has a hearing aid battery that works well as a substitute; type 675. And they are not excessively expensive. About $8.00 for an 8-pack. The voltage is rated about 0.05 higher than the mercury cells, so any variation in exposure metering will be slight.

I agree with Eddie Freed. That would be my suggestion too. Try fitting a 35mm spool, out of the cassette, and tape the lead to it if necessary.
It may feel a bit tight when you rewind, as the tape pulls loose from the spindle, but it ought to work.

Mercury cells are typically 1.35 volts. Radio Shack has a hearing aid cell, type 675, which is rated at 1.4 volts. a .04 volt difference is not sufficient to make a difference. At least not enough to worry about for your metering system.

Without a doubt, Erich Salomon, who essentially invented candid photography and managed to crash just about every international
diplomatic conference of his era, 1920s-30s. He is also credited with taking the only shot of the US Supreme Court in Session.

Dan,
I do not have a 2x3 pacemaker. My Pacemaker is 4x5 and I have not been asking about that. I do not want to use 620 roll film as it's too much bother to rewind from 120. If I can find another 2x3 I will bid on it if it has the Graflok back.

FWIW, Vivitar tanks will take the Patterson reels also. And they come in sizes to accept 4 or more reels.

As my Pacemaker is a 4x5, I plan to keep on using it.
I wanted the graflok back for the 2x3 which has only a graphic back.
Thst way, I might have used the 23 roll film back on the mini.
I guess that I willhave to keep on looking for a 2x3 with the appropriate hardware. Thanks all.

I can recommend the Kodak V570 if you want a really pocketable digital. Its a 5 megapixel unit, which means you can easily blow up to 16x20. My only quibble is that it takes a Kodak KLIC7001 battery, which I find annoying as I can't find replacements at the corner grocer. But you can find spares and a charger easily enough on ebay, so it could be worse!

At a nearby flea market I found a 1930 Leica C (1) with 5 cm f 3.5 elmar optimized for interchangeable lenses. For which I paid $35.00. It still works fine and I use it often. I did have to fiddle a connection for a neck strap on the original leather case, but that work out ok too.
