    it's taken a year of trying to get this shot. fireworks displays areso rich that it's hard to find sections of sky that aren't brimfulwith colour and too busy.

    hi there,

    well it's a combination of covering and uncovering the lens (on bulb setting), selectively exposing the film up to a max of a few seconds and moving the camera in particular ways to produce the streaks. Highly experimental, but becoming less so. This was more or less what I was after in this case, but it's so difficult since you never know what other fireworks are going to appear and potentially ruin what you've just crafted.     hi jon,

    whoops, my mistake. I'd forgotten that the lower section was indeed darkened. The original is very similar with some barely traceable detail in the landscape. The sky lighting and the light on the tree is straight off the neg. cheers, marcus
