great lighting. I know that it's hard to capture the details in a church ceiling without blowing out the highlights. You did a great job, only a few places are very bright, but it's not too much. Though I suppose my ideal version of this image would tone down the spot on the floor...

looks like a film still!

this image is so fun to look at! I like the colors, composition, and of course the subject. I'm a fan of many of your pictures, actually. thanks for sharing.

reminds me of this photo

don't know what's better... the photo or the above comment ;)

does anyone else do polaroid transfers?
-
beautiful! would you mind sharing your technique?
-
I used a Daylab printer for this one: projected a slide onto polaroid
film, then hand manipulated it using a stylus.

This is one of the best series of photos I've ever seen! This photo was so weird and I was trying to figure it out when I noticed the Disneyland folder it was in... you have a great eye for the absurd and a great sense of humor, and obviously, a talent for translating both to film.
-
wow. you completely succeeded... the combination of dirt, lighting, the child's tense pose, and especially the fact that there is no discernable face makes this image very disturbing.
I gave it a 6/7 because it didn't feel right giving it a 7 for aesthetics because it isn't very aesthetically pleasing to me - but I certainly would give it a 7 for emotionally evocative, or for overall successful image.

Thanks for the kind words. I think your work is excellent so your opinion is much appreciated.

wow, I just noticed... 6 people gave this a 1/2?
damn, I guess with such a plethora of manipulated polaroids I better try another medium if I want to be more original. ;)

I'm glad you like it.
SX-70 Polaroid film, also called Time Zero film, looks exactly like Polaroid 600 film with the white border, but it has a much softer emulsion. Thanks to the mylar over the emulsion, I can apply pressure to the photo soon after it was taken, and push the picture around. I used a toothpick for this one; these days I use a metal stylus. I make small controlled movements to get the effect.

Sacre Coeur is such a beautiful building. I love the dramatic lighting. I also like how I can tell there's a crowd but the people are mostly dark so they don't distract. I would clone away the lamppost and wire on the right though, they are a bit distracting.

The soft emulsion of the SX-70 Polaroid was hand manipulated with a
toothpick. I've also color corrected this in photoshop (added blue),
and cloned away a mistake. Does anyone find the rubber stamping too
obvious?

(Does anyone else here do polaroid manipulations?)

so very aesthetically pleasing!

After admiring so many photos here for so long, I'm finally starting
my own photo.net protfolio with this image. It's a hand manipulated
polaroid. The emusion on SX-70 film is quite soft for 1/2 hour to
several days (depending on the temperature). I used a stylus to
gently push around the emulsion, spending about 40 minutes on this
image.

gorgeous colors!

I think the shutter lag worked in your favor because there would have been less tension / movement present if she had been perfectly centered under the small arch. Plus, I really like being able to see all the way through the arches and she would have blocked the view.
I love everything about this picture, the colors are amazing and the subject is so great... I can't take my eyes off of it.
