1. This is an email I received two days after making one call to canon's rebate center
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Roy Zoellner,
Thank you for choosing Canon. We value you as a Canon Customer and appreciate the opportunity to

assist you. I apologize for the delay and inconvenience experienced in having your rebate processed.

My name is Brad. I am the Canon liaison to the rebate house. Your rebate has been escalated to me.

Please be assured that your rebate will have my personal attention.

I understand that your Cash in with Canon Fall 2006 rebate submission has been denied, citing that you

submitted an invalid UPC bar code. I have researched the rebate house database, and show that the

error was caused by an IT glitch in the processing database. Your submitted UPC was in fact valid.

I will contact the rebate house to clear the error and issue you the correct amount of the rebate, which

    is $690.00.

Thank you,
Brad

  2. I just recently made the general 1800 call to canon and talked to thier rebate department.

They informed me my claim would be escalated and the rebate center would be contacted. I

am one of the many with the false invalid UPC submission.

  3. I ordered a 5D & 17+40 from b&H, sent in the rebate at the end of december. Now I am too

geting a non complient notification online saying I an invalid upc was included, which is

horse poop. In the submission I included the cutout from the boxes along with a photocopy

just incase. The rebate was preaproved online too. the fight is on

  4. I have read in other post that people have called the canon rebate center. What is that number. I sent in a

rebate claim for a 5D and 17-40 last december and now the website is saying they are processing, but an

error saying invalid UPC (bull crapola). The fight is on... for 700 bucks...

    wish me luck,

    roy

  5. since 1999/2000 I have had a Blueberry iMac, iMac DV, powerbook (pismo/black), G4

tower, and Now a G5 dual 1.8 tower. I would deffinaly have to say go with a mac. Macs

aren't perfect, but they are better... especially since you are what I call a creative user. Just

make sure whatever mac you get, get as much memory. I am currently using apple's

aperture on my power mac G5 with 1 gig of ram. I just put an order in with crucial so I

have 2 more gigs coming. When I was shooting in jpg with my canon 30D & 5D everything

was fine, but when I switched to RAW my machine really slowed down only having one gig

    of ram.

    cheers,

    roy

  6. Well I am the proud owner of a new 580EX that goes nicely with my 5D w/ batterygrip.

My question is how do you folks power your speedlites. For now I am just using energizer AA's I picked

up at my local grocer. I would like to go to some type of rechargeable system very soon.

  7. So I unwrap my new 580 (first flash to own). drop in batteries and pop it on my 5D. turn on the camera,

turn on the flash and my ears begin to be anoyed by a very high frequency noice. So loud I can hear it

accross the room. Is this normal. the batteries are old. I pulled them out of a bicycle light I had in my

junk drawer. As easy as it is to ask here than drive up to the store for new batteries in solving this

    problem.

  8. I had a canon GL1 and sold it for a 30D & 5D. I liked my canon video camera while i had it...

Go to a book store and checkout video maker magzine. the last issue had a best of segment

for video cameras. If you want a canon HD plan on spending about two to three times your

budget. again you will find comparison info at the bookstores (borders or barnes & noble),

that way if you see something you like you buy the magazine.

  9. I went ahead and got the 5D & 17-40 a few days after Christmas. Next order, hopefully the

end of this month, will be a battery grip and 70-200 f2.8. I mailed off the rebat last thursday.

hope the rebate check goes into the mail soon.

  10. I bought a 30D, battery grip, 50 1.4, and 2gig sandisk this past summer. I now have on

order a 5D with 17-40. I figure making the investment I could take on jobs where having

a second body is a must (weddings). But the main reason is that I already have a gig to

shoot interiors for a cabinet and countertop business.(thus the FF 5D will be best tool)

Had I had to do it all over again I probably would have still bought the 30D first. A much

less entry price to get in the world of canon. But I am buying my lenses around a FF 5D.

Do you have the same problem I do. I am a career firefighter that does webstuff on the

side, and it ends up that all of my side money funds my computer and camera splurges.

Everytime I think, "o' i'm gonna make some good money on this project". I end up placing

an order at b&h for the same amount (of money in) or a little more. it's a vicious

    cycle...o'well

  11. I have a 2gig sandisk in my 30D - i've only been shooting since this past summer, but no

problems, such that I have a new 2 gig still in the box on my desk (about to go into my gear

bag). I have a 5D in route from

B&H and was considering the lexar with the very attractive rebate program...
