I use a 37 year old Balcar 2400ws power pack and it works just fine. I bought it used in 1980, and have had it repaired once. If you are sure the pack is the inconsistancy problem I would take it in. I do not think dirty contacts would cause inconsistancy because they would not be dirty for one exposure and claen for the next without other changes. I have a zoom with variable f stop, 3.5-4.5 I think and when I zoom in or out sometimes the exposure changes from frame to frame. It was hard to get used to and I wondered for some time why my exposures were inconsistant, but it was not the lights. I think they lose power over time and the color temp of bulbs change over time but my lights have never been inconsistant and I use them every week.
