  1. Torben--CA2500s are great projectors , but what do you mean by "dirt cheap?" The reason I ask is that they still seem to be in the several hundred dollar range. An acceptable alternative is the get a good Ektagraphic--late series--and use a really good lens--such as the Navitar 70-125 zoom; there are plenty of others. Also, there is an adaptor that allows the use of Leica lens in Ektagraphics. They do a great job with the proper lens, and I find the round trays easier to handle then the linear trays. I wish I could find a CA2500 for an Ektagraphic price!
  2. The RT-300 is really a Telex Caramate model 3170 with a Leica lens and Leica logo. If you do buy the Rt-300, be SURE and check the operation thoroughly. Poor auto-focus and sluggish operation are just 2 of the many things you may find wrong. A good alternative is to buy a like-new late model Kodak Ektagraphic and a Navitar 70-125 f/2.8 zoom--believe me, in side-by-side comparisons, you will be very hard pressed to tell the difference in the Navitar lens and the Leica. And the Ektagraphic is MUCH cheaper, and can be repaired easily.

I also have the older Leica Color series projectors, with the straight trays, and the Colorplan 90, 120 and 150mm lens are excellent. The 2500 series and the "P" series are much more expensive, and don't offer any real advantages over the old Color and Color Autofocus series.

Don't forget to get a great screen!

    Paul
