Your model, the socks, the setting, the stuff showing beneath the drape, the shirt... the whole effect is casually sweet and warming.

Yes, I like this very much: so many planes of colour & light, some of them directly real and others indirectly real. You have captured a nice blend of moving and still objects. There is a reflection where the person's face should be and that is somehow most disturbing.

Bjorn, I've stayed away from photo.net for a few months. I see that in the meantime you have been working hard and producing more wonderful images, like this one. Is the photo in this image yours? I believe I remember having seen it before.
My fondest regards.

The point I'm seeing is that the geographical juxtaposition is just too horrendous to overlook. What's more, the visual economy of the image implies to me a level of artistry and intelligence that makes the image even more shocking.
There are some similarly evocative photos here at photo.net by Geert Vanden Wijngaert:
Bunia airport
Goma airport

Very well done, Heinrich!

I opened "Opening of hangar 8" because it's a shot full of curiosity and promise. And Richard, your photo essay sure delivered on the promise. It's a most entertaining and exotic bunch of shots. Well done!

Thank you, Jana. It was the first night at a resort in Southern Cuba, on board a small boat. The band was playing and everybody was feeling relaxed and un-self-conscious.

Dariusz, I'm enjoying your landscapes more and more. Among the many fine qualities of your images, I like the way you capture the magnificence of both land and sky.

Interesting image. I'm finding that I'm having several reactions to it and that makes it special.
Congratulations to Antonella. And thank you, Elves, for selecting it.

Beautifully captured, Dariusz!

Very nice Impressionistic capture, John.

You have created a wonderful cool crisp atmosphere with the sharp image and the contrasting blues and yellow-greens. The cool blue pillows look especially inviting.
I find the image to be an unusual low-light work because you have not compromised clarity and detail. Congratulations.

I've been coming back to this image over and over again during the past year. It's beautful and continues to be a powerful image to me.
