Hey all,
I am a student at a high school in Vermont, I have been heavily into
photography for about 3 years now. In an entrepreneurship class of
mine we set out to create a mock business. I had the idea of a sort of
business intermediary between publications and freelance
photographers, but with permenant employees. I need to administer a
survey and I thought that photo.net might be a good place for some
answers. Anything anyone has would help me out...
thanks for your time - here is the survey:
Roam photography is an organization of professionals who provide a
reliable photography service to help secure the financial careers of
freelance photographers and insure the results to various
publications. The following survey will help with gathering knowledge
on photographers? thoughts or needs related to freelance occupations.
Thank you for your time and help.
A simple Yes/No answer will suffice for all except question #12
1. Is the freelance photography market too risky for you?
2. Are there enough well paying and secure photography jobs?
3. Are client relations the least appealing aspect of freelance
photography?
4. Is initial funding an issue for freelance photography?
5. Are transactions between photographer and publications too
risky?
6. Are transactions between photographer and publications too
slow?
7. Is formal education important for a professional photographer?
8. Is professional experience important for quality results?
9. Is digital photography helping news photography?
10. Does traditional photography, as an ideal, appeal to you?
11. Is the business aspect of freelance photography unappealing?
12. What percentage of a freelance income is the business aspect
worth?
13. Would you be willing to work for a company which handles all
business aspects for a portion of each sale?

very nice
I especially like the forbidden city workers + couple, the big door one, the wall elevator, and the city wall shot.
thanks for sharing

I am currently a junior (highschool), and I am trying to find a school
which has a decent photography department. So far my top choice is
NYU, at the Tisch school of the arts...any thoughts on schools known
for their photography departments? or schools which have well known
professors?
If it helps, I am interested in photojournalism/photo-documentary and
other related subjects such as (non photographic) journalism.
Thanks

looks great so far...keep posting from this trip. Any specific motivation for the trip? or was it just go and take pictures of random things?

I have heard that all transactions are through E-bay...which are "buy now" options. As for alternatives, the bessa L case supposedly fits quite nicely. It is also much cheaper than luigi's. Do you really want a case you will be worried of scratching?

I say save your money for living in a godamn expensive town -- Santa Barbara is going to kick your ass. I think that first years are able to rent leica and one other for free...do that and rent some MF from calumet.

Thank you very much, Tim. I couldn't find anything on it, but you came through with all the answers...may I ask where you got the info? - only so I would be able to learn more on the enlarger. Thanks again.

I have just recieved a Leitz Vasex II which I found in my
grandmother's attic. It has not been in use since the 60s, but when
it was in use I presume it was only used for 35mm negs. If it is all
in working order, what lenses can I use on this if I want to be able
to use 6X6 negs?
This and any other information about the Vasex II that may be
helpful would be much appreciated.
Thanks-
Ben
