I receintly bought a 200-400F4 VR and have used it a numb er of time over the past 3 weeks and am VERY impressed. I had a 500 F4 P before and fin dI can get much better pictures with the 200-400. The zoom is very useful, but the VR is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I got many hand-held shots of bald eagles from a rocking boat and they are sharp as tacks. All my shots fro mthe same boat and of the same eagles last year with the 500 F4 had some degree of camera shake both hand-held and on a tripod. I also used it with a TC14EII and can barely tell the difference

You can use either the TC-14E or the TC-20E. Check out the Nikon web site for details, and note that the I and II revisions of these teleconverters differ in cosmetics only - optics and compatibility are the same according to Nikon.
