  1. I bought one a while ago... like a year or two... not too bad... no ICE or anything like that.. but if you have pristine negatives, I think it does a decent job for 35mm. You can check out my gallery on here, most everything B/W was scanned with it. I don't do anything with color, so I cannot vouch for that. Also, I was not impressed with their bundled software... I use VUEscan.

I do most of my printing with a HiTouch 730PS dye-sub printer... which does up to 6x8 (odd size I know, but perfect for matting in an 8x10 frame).

What is that Plustek scanner cost these days... I got one of the very first ones for about 179.99$USD. Which at that price, there are not many comparable options... (Mind you, I'm strictly a hobbyist with no

formal training... (so I may be a bad judge of quality, see the scans for yourself @ http://www.photo.net/photos/3matthew3 )

  2. I too am interested in this scanner, mainly for B/W negatives. I SEARCHED and SEARCHED the web only to find one guy on the "Contax G Pages" website that uses this scanner.

Here is the link to his page/pictures :

I personally emailed him asking about his scanner and here was his reply, not extremely techinical, but maybe the above link to his pictures will help :::

""" I bought the Plustek mainly for budget reasons. I paid the equivalent of around $250 for it, which is much less than the Coolscan or the Minolta, two other popular models. The Plustek is not the best film scanner in the world, but it does the job well enough. It comes bundled with software that installs easily and just..."works". No frills, it just works well. Check te product website here: http://www.plustek.com/products/film.htm Overall, I am happy with it. I scan at 2400 dpi resolution, in .TIF format (uncompressed); any higher renders the images too heavy (35Mb and over) I addition the scanner becomes very slow and results show too many flaws in the negative if you choose higher settings. I think 3600 dpi should be the maximum. I simply haven't tried it, but test reports indicate the 7200 dpi setting delilvers rightout "bad" results. It all boils down to personal preference, but I can recommend the Plustek...One more thing: no middle/ large negative format, only 36x24 (and slides)

I hope this helps a little........;-)

    Kind regards,

    Patrick """

I went ahead and ordered the plustek... I'll also let everyone know how mine works with VUESCAN. I paid 189.99 @ www.tigerdirect.com
