El Fang ,you are over active, you seems like the anti-leica missiles aiming at every question relating to leica. Please be patient. Leica cameras are tools for taking photos. Let those people like it and don't angry with it.

you certainly make the right decision. As long as you use the camera correctly, your life will be embraced by the hassy 501 kit. Moreover, you can use adapter to link your 80mm2.8 planar with Canon 300D for portrait work and that will certainly make you happy.

if you like hassy with fuji lens, go for it . remember fuji 617, Ga 645, they are great camera with good lens. Kyocera made contax 645 lens are also great. It is actually Japanese lens compared with Japanese lens. like Canon vs Nikon battles.

the people need media for recording images for memories. In future, we may use ionized gas or anti matter materials for storage of images or videos. So , why destroy them? film or digital will be past.......Star Trek journeys.

zeiss is a company with many branches for making telescopes, medical instruments, construction measuring devices, optical glass for eyeglass, secret optics for army, navy,airforce. Zeissikon is only a very small part mainly for making money and share markets with leica.

you can judge a photo under very high standard of measures. But in art world, it is not 1 or zero. Photos presented have their stories.

please don't look at the digital world. Leica cameras are precision made cameras thta will last for a long time with you. It is like an antique or china that can be display at your home or use it as a tool for making money. For those who are interested in leica , good progress.

if you are serious, you should not compare a rangefinder lens with a SLR lens since the design for focal length is different. For Norton, since it is design as no mirror in the camera, it will get different in focal lenght and better resolution in theory.

contax i4u with tessar 38mm lens(in 35mm film format)- 4 mega pixels is the best point and shoot. cheers

the lens on digilux 2 is beyond compared by FZ20. I suspect the lens on FZ20 used movies cameras lens design like fujinon movies lens for their video cameras .Those movies lens got 18-200mm lens with F/1.9 all the way.

Sigma , konica,minolta,Zeissikon(carl zeiss),epson,ricoh all got patents in making R mount lens and some M mount lens. sooner or later, they may produce >10 mega pixels digital camera body in those mounts. please wait

how about tamron 90mm 2.8 SP or 85mm 1.8 with kenko extension tube.

I may suggest sigma 12-24mm, canon 28-105mm 3.5-4.5 and 100 macro lens.

try your best to use canon body with mirror lock up and use heavy tripot for support. Remove any filters and use the suppied hood and shoot at the mount at f/2.8 or f/4 and see the results. Also exam the lens elements carefully under spot light and see whether any bubbles spread on the lens element. In that case, the element may go wrong and need to send back.

I will suggest 28-105mm 3.5-4.5 lens with 90-300mm lens

the jena lens is not able to produce result compared with 70-200/4 canon L lens

one design use for wide angle photography and the other design for telephotos. that is prove by scientific computering. You cannot use biogon design to take telephotos.

please let NASA's space telescope lens (which made by Zeiss in certain aspects) to take the photos.

in 1950's lens manufacturer like zoomer or kilar make 400/5.6 Tele-Kilar in exakta mount still proved capable in producing fine lens. Let's look back in history more, steve.

try to use the contax 45mm2 planar T* lens for contax G1 or G2 as a loupe and you will find the result satisfy your taste. I am sure!!!

please bare in mind that although design is the same, composition of lens element may be different. which result in diffenence in performance.

even though the design is the same, the lens refractive index may be different. that is why leica people may say their summicron is better than konica hexers and other japs' lens.
