Hi William,
Have you got CS2? Have you tried simply using the automatic HDRI alignment feature? I've tried hand shooting HDR photos and auto aligning them and they come out very close to perfect. I imagine scanning would be much easier since all CS2 is doing is having to account for movement up/down and left/right, rather than (when hand holding a camera) up/down, left/right, forward/back, tilting, etc!

Heres my solution.
1. Copy original image layer, invert, layer opacity 50%, layer type screen, use a layer mask to exclude the landscape.
2. Copy original layer again, place above and use as a colour layer, desaturate slightly. Use broad brush strokes to get similar blue to surrounding sky & remove dark splotch.
3. Levels adjustment layer to reach original look.
Cheers.

Can't we have a system similar to google where you can set a filter? When people join photo.net, or are alerted of this new feature/made to accept a new usage agreement/whatever, they can go to their "my workspace" area and check the box for yes or no for displaying nudes. This shouldn't be hard to do since there is the nudes folder here where all of them should be posted. Or even set "dont display nudes" as a default for everyone so you have to uncheck it, then there's no chance people can accidentally see them. I'm sure this must have been suggested before, or its already an option lol.

Until its fixed, you can get around the problem by going to the photo you want to be critiqued first, and then clicking critique from options. Hope that works for your guys.

Hi,
Ive got a wide angle lens setup with a hefty ND filter and Ive found
that since Ive fitted the ND filter Im getting huge amounts of
vignetting in some images. Does an ND filter increase vignetting? It
also seems as though some images are vignetted differently to others,
dependant I think on whether theyre pointed at the sun or away from
it... Using CS2, some images require a vignetting midpoint at zero
whilst other images (at different angles to the sun, if that makes a
difference) require higher midpoint and or vignet figures to make
them look right. Some shots I literally hit the vignetting max of 100
and still need more! :( Which isnt good as CS2 doesnt allow you to
vignet any more than 100! I may see if I cant fix these images and
then go back into Bridge again and apply another round of
vignetting...
Oh and no I dont have a sky/uv/polarizor or any other filters fitted.
Also looking for a more scientific way of setting up CS2 to fix my
vignetting, rather than "that looks about right". Would love to hear
peoples ideas/comments/suggestions. Thanks for reading. Regards.

Im getting the same when trying to request a critique and Im on Windows, explorer, different ISP, dont think thats got anything to do with it. Ive been having problems uploading too.

Wierd I swear I just replied to this yet my post didnt seem to appear...? Anyway dont worry about it Ive found some remote capturing and astromony related software that you can use by hooking a laptop up to your camera via USB. Cheers.

Hey Lex, (and other guys, thanks for responding). What youre talking about with the dynamic range, thats exactly why I wanted to be able to trip the shutter quickly. You do it manually and a gust of wind moves trees, a bird flies into scene, clouds move (sometimes VERY quickly) etc.

Damn, ok thanks mate... Anyone have any idea how Id be able to set this up? Or is it just impossible? Theres no way to get code into the firmware for example is there?

Hi I was wondering if any owners of the 20d could help me out with a
bracketing question.
I need to be able to take a large number of bracketed shots at a
wide range of exposures and I was wondering if theres a way to set
up the camera so that I press the shutter once and say for example,
the camera snaps off 10 shots at 1/5, 1/10, 1/20 etc etc etc at its
full speed of however many shots a second. Is this available as
standard or a custom function or not at all?
Thanks for any help.
Regards,
Jay

I havent been here long but this thread is up there in terms of unbeleiveability! And poor Bob! Jees steady on there! If these guys need to rate themselves to get good ratings then have pity on them and get on with taking photos. Also hows rating yourself any different to saying to someone "Im really proud of this photo" or "I think this shot is ok I guess" Its just as easy to abuse this as it is for other members to rate your shots badly just to "have at you". Most of the time however you get around about what you deserve. Cant beleive Im wasting my time writing this but... meh :) Calm down people!
-
It may just be my photos, but I find that unless I put something in just for critique only, it gets lost in seconds and no one comments on it, on the other side of the coin if I go request only I cant get ratings...
-
Has anyone suggested changing the average rating to "mode" rather than just averaging? Itd show the rating most people give, rather than one idiot dragging your "score" way down. Isnt that what people are generally pissed about anyway? Theres always gonna be fools or people who for whatever reason dont like your photo, so surely having the average rating determined by the "mode" statistical method that would improve things...?
