  1. I'm also looking to do buy it to add as a pocket digital camera to take on bike rides. Seems

to be a great available light camera with the 1600 iso feature. I tried it a the store and it

does seem very responsive and have very little shutter lag. Mostly automated features - no

aperture, shutter modes, no tiff or raw - only jpeg. But it does seem to work very well and

give clean images at higher iso. Another camera that seems very versatile is the

Panansonic FZ5. Small but not pocketable, 12x zoom, Leica lens, image stabilized. It's very

different from the Fuji but seems like a great all around camera.

  2. I actually came from digital before adding film (Leica MP and Cl). Used my Canon 1D Mark

II, Photoshop and Epson 2200 for prints. Forthe 2200 printer I use the $50 software

Quadtone RIP to get really neutral B&W prints.

    Jay:

Shooting in RAW gives you great control of your picture, including white balance,

exposure, contrast, etc. Very easy to do. Probably the reason you can spend hours on a

photo is that you can do ANYTHING to it - it's just how much you'd like to do.

Now I've never developed my own negs (though I really would like to) and never printed

my own negs myself, but from what I hear the reall work goes into making the print, yes?

It's the same with using Photoshop. Tweak as much as you'd like to get the final print

looking the way you want it. RAW gives you more latitude and the most information to

    work with.

I now find myself without the weight of the Canon camera and lenses, prefering to carry

just the Leica CL and it's 40 Rokkor for their light weight. Sometimes I'll use a 90 cron,

    but that's rare.

I think Leicas and film are great but the digital darkroom is really coming into its own. I'm

planning on getting a film scanner, one of the Minoltas SD IV, 5400 or 5400 II I so can use

Photoshop and the 2200 on my Leica shots.

  3. I'm awaiting delivery of a Leica CL and 40 rokkor I bought from Sherry Krauter. Completely

CLA'd and 6 month warranty. Got it to compliment my MP and for its small size and

vertical straps. If you don't need AE, this seems like a nice setup. But, like Larry stated, I

think the Bessa RxA's are a great deal and maybe the next boat to catch if they are

    discontinued.

  4. A couple of times, in AE mode, my M7's LED shutter display started to rapidly flip between

shutter speeds. It's as if the light source is constantly changing. It first happened when I

pointed the camera at a TV screen, but I thought that since the the TV screen is flickering,

    maybe

the camera catches that nuance. But later when I was photgraphing a static object (a

violin), the same thing happened. Has this happened to anyone else?
