Hola, Marina
He entrado en
Hay dos libritos geniales, "Letting Go of
the
Camera" y "Single Exposures".

I can confirm the extraordinary near 12 stops dynamic range from D700 after doing some tests on my NEF's. Maybe this is an argument for using HDR to manage this from a single RAW... Tests on the way :)

Listen, and let's remember those great artists and persons that have left us behind...and just be happy because we did share a part our life and creative moments with them.

I'm using GretagMacbeth EyeOne, good results. I can't compare with any other - is the first calibrator I use.

I mean set the zoom scale to 'actual pixels'
-
OK, it works. I must set the zoom scale at <actual pixels> and then cropping works ok.<br>
Fast answer.

Michael, I have tried your option but it changes the image scale/size because you must select a part of the image and then PS adjusts the image size. I don't want to change the image size, only cropping but keeping the same scale on image. I am not sure of being clear enough...

I must say I have been using Canvas size option to reduce canvas to an exact size but I don't find enough control about the final part of image that is going to be cropped.

I need to crop a scanned photo to an exact pixel size, length and
large. I can not change image size because I want to mount both
images on PS and I need to be exactly the same. I don't know if is
there a way of cropping an image on PS say to 800 px wide. Any help
appreciated.
Creating HDR with a single RAW file
in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing

Gary, if you read carefully the dpreview test, you can see you get the 12 stops dr from tweaking the raw file in
ACR. That is, you can raise the blacks with Fill Light and get the extra 1-2 stops in highlights with the exposure
control and the Recovery slider, because the sensor has the detail recorded right there, and there's no noise
interference in shadows. That's what I have tested on my D700 and that's why talking about HDR on one shot, while
is not correct from a purist point of view, makes sense as a way of recovering all the information the sensor has
and can't be "developed" on a single tiff directly. Not a true HDR, not a direct dr recording, but feasible at
the end. I'm more interested in results than in concepts ;)
Photomatix does this on a single pass.
