    Fly By!!!

Birds in flight: not easy. Good shot though. This one would maybe benefit from some medium sharpening and also apply a light S-curve to add some punch.
  1. Is using a layer mask to selectively brighten or darken parts (deleting the curves effect on an already white wall for example) considered a manipulation too?

I suppose that if you use this technique to expand dynamic range, it can be compared to dodging and burning in the traditional darkroom. Consider it normal photographic practice rather that "manipulation".

I was very puzzled with this image before I read it was a ps edit. I thought the bird was about to chase the fox away in order to get it's part of, what I suppose, is pray in the background... But with the presence of the bird explained, I am still wondering: what is this object in the background? Seems that it was obviously something to the foxe's taste...

Another great picture Anna! Great warm colour from the firelight and a very faint blueish "moon"-light bringing out the contours of her shoulder and arm. 6/6
  2. Per, what camera profile and what destination profile are you using with your H10? I have this same problem as you seem to have with colour response in flesh tones (specially on hands - magenta cast!). With your canon dslr camera you don't have this problem... I have often thought of having a special camera profile made for flesh tones...

With the above image you may try to correct with selective colors filter - in red channel: cyan minus 70% and yellow plus 100%. Mask off the dress as it will be affected by the correction as well. Of course, I agree that this ps correction is exaggerated - it however shows how far off the camera profile is for rendering nice and warm flesh tones.
