I set it up for the first time last night the Cambo 45NX with a 150mm
rodenstock lens. I was in my basement and picked a subject about 15 feet away to focus on, this is where I get confused. I could not focus on the item?? I moved the camera closer to this object and then I could focus, but at longer distance, I could not get the camera to focus. It seems the standards could not get close enough together to focus, I even remove the tripod collar to a different position so I could get the standards almost touching but still no luck??

Am I right in assuming the standards come closer together to focus on farther away objects?

I'm sure I'm missing something here? Can anyone help me out?

I have what I'm sure is a lame question. The Cambo 45NX i just got came with a dozen lisco film holders. On the 45NX the back has a little lever that moves the gound glass away from the back to allow the film holder to be inserted. This lever only lifts one side? It seems tough to slide the film holder in?? The concern I have it with camera movements when doing this. Are there film holders that have a felt around them to make this sliding easier? There is felt on the camera back, which I'm concrned will wear away with all this sliding of the platic lisco holders. The lisco holders are the regal type.

Hello all. Well I picked up my 45 NX from the person and it looks great. I did get the lens and lensboard also...BUT! When I go to install the lens, I take off the rear element and there is a small round thredded collar I assume is used to tighten it to the lens board. Well that collor is small enough to fit thru the hole of the lens board!?? Putting the rear element on has no bearing in holding the lens to the board, only this ring/collar that is smaller than the hole in the lens board. Please tell me the lens board has the wrong size hole in it! The guy said it was a copal 0 board and thats what shutter I have. Could the collar have been misplaced with a smaller one?? Should the lens barrel fit snug in the hole..It dosent now.

Thanks for any help

Very new to LF cameras so please bear with me. I'm picking up my 4x5 on sat. It includes a 150mm lens. What kind of portrait work can I expect to do with this lens? Full length, waist up etc?? A 210 is not in the budget for another month or so.

Thanks a million

I'm an avid 6x9 shooter and am ready to jump into some large format 4x5 stuff. I have a chance on a good deal (I THINK) on a Calumet 45NX Can someone give me some feedback on this camera? It will be for a new large format user that wants to do just portrait stuff with it. Also, what would be a good portrait length lens? 210?? Any feedback would be great

My first 4x5 shot
in Large Format

Well, I used my 4x5 for the first time this weekend...... WOW. I'm in love, granted I used only polaroids for instant gratification but I was very impressed. I just want to say thanks to everyone for helping me out of the silly binds I got into. This may sound wierd but, I felt like some guy in the 30's etc taking pictures. I loved the time it takes to get a shot etc.

Thanks to everyone!
