  1. "At the top of that panel, there's a section called Storage. If you click that, one of the types of storage you can inspect is cookies (at the left of the panel). The NSFW opt-in status cookie is quite clearly named. I just deleted it, and I have the blurred images and opt-in buttons back. "

I tried this procedure and it worked. However, once I left the site and came back the images are back to being greyed out, and no Opt-In option.

  2. You said that you are more than a meter away from the subject. How much more? A meter is pretty darn close. It may be that you are too close and the external flash on the top of the camera is only blasting the top of your subject. You also said that the longer Tamron lense does not display this problem. Could it be that you are backing away from the subject with that longer lense? Try the diffuser on the flash and see if the result changes. Also, see if backing away from the subject helps.

As to the blurring of the shot. Having the aperture opened up really cuts the DOF down. Is the entire subject out of focus, or is a small part in focus? Also, the large aperture can multiply any defects that the lens has especially in the corners of the photo.

  3. The small size of the CMOS chip in a digital SLR, and the image circle

of a standard EF lense produce a magnification factor of about 1.6x of

the listed FL of the lense. My question is how does this effect the

aperture settings? Should they be corrected by this factor as well

when using a handheld light meter? Either way I would appreciate an

explanation so I will understand why/why not.

  4. Exposure Evaluation

Untill recently I was like you, I did not know what to use the histogram for. What I have learned is that you can use it to see how the photo was either over, or under exposed. When you start to see a large portion of the exposure pushed up against the right or left side of the histogram it indicates that either the highlights or shadows are being blown out and will have little or no contrast.

Do a search on the web for histograms and you will find some good information.
