Thank you Per! Yes, perhaps the crop (I took it like that) is too tight. Anyway, I was just looking for a head shot, as I usually can't do this type of shots at concerts. I hope I can own a good tele soon!! :c))

Thank you James! I completely agree with you, the photo lacks of something... perhaps it's the entire atmosphere of it what fails. I have no more rock concerts planned by now. In fact I have very few concerts on my schedule as I'm pretty busy lately (the good university days are getting over xD). By the way, it's just me or the ratings are getting even tougher here?

I know it isn't a great shot, but considering the circumstances (onlythree short songs time limit and, although nice, extremely lowlighting: ISO1600, f/2.8 and 1/30) I'm quite happy. I was lucky tohave my just purchased 50mm f/1.8, I'm looking forward to give it atry under better lighting conditions.

By the way, Mariza is a Portuguese singer you must see live if youever have the chance. She's great!!

  1. Well, I don't really have much experience at shooting concerts in analog, I think digital SLRs are the best choice for that for many reasons. You'll probably need fast film (ISO800 or pushed ISO400 at least) and the widest aperture your lenses can achive as the lighting is usually very low. The tripod can be useful too if you're shooting static performers. I think the best advice I can give you is practising a lot and taking a lot of photos at each concert (I usually take about a hundred per concert and that's an important reason to preffer digital), so you can know the limitations of your equipment (and your own's too) in such low light situations. For more details you may have a look to:

I hope I've been of some help.

    All the Best!
