Wayne and Rob, thank you for your comments. It's fun to visit friends who live in Albuquerque and explore Taos and other nearby towns. It's a destination for art buyers which makes it fun for art admirers like my wife and myself.
  1. Thank you Larry. I'm glad you survived your misadventure. People are weird sometimes. I remember when it was relatively safe to hitchhike in the '70, but read reports of some idiots throwing bottles from speeding pickup trucks at hitchhikers.
  2. Thank you Giangiorgio. I have a friend who refuses to take a nature photo with a human in it. Sometimes it really helps to have a person provide scale to an image. I shot some, I thought, great pictures of a glacier in New Zealand from a small plane, but with nothing in the frame to show scale, the photos could have been of a snowbank next to a road. Scale matters.

Thank you Wayne. What struck me in New Mexico was how uniform the tones are. The shapes of objects help break the monotony. The only color contrasts are the ones added by man.

Thank you Giangiorgio. These flowers were either in the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate or in an outside dahlia garden that is maintained by volunteers. Please take care of yourself and stay safe. Charlie

Thank you Gregory and Verena. This was shot at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. It's an ideal place to shoot because the glass ceiling has a white coating that softens the light.

Questions remain. What are all these hydrants doing here? Where did they come from? I wasn't sure about adding this gritty image, but I'm glad you and others liked it. Happy Healthy New Year to you and your family. I can't wait to see more of your wide angle landscapes next year. Charlie

Thank you Laurent. I've visited this site a couple of times and although the car has been vandalized, I'm surprised that most of the parts seem to be there. Is this car a sign of the end of combustion engine cars?
  3. Thank you Robert. Almost missed the moment the little girl passed by the opening as she was moving faster than a walk. I generally agree with you about highlights with no detail in photos, but in this case the shape of the white light added more geometric shapes and the "pan handle" is pointing at the child.
  4. Thank you Warren. I've been volunteering to shoot during an annual Plein Air Paintout organized by a local gallery for years, until 2020. I was fortunate that this artist's hat allowed enough light to fall gently on her face under rather harsh lighting conditions.
