  1. I took the plunge to digital and I am currently using a Pentax *ist D

plus a German slideshow program called Magix, which creates nice

slideshows for DVD-player viewing. However, the resolution seems to

be limited to standard DVD-movie format, i.e. somewhere around the

700 by 500 pixel lines. I had a chance to see my show on large format

LCD and Plasma screens with a lot of visible stepping in contours. Is

there a program/tip/trick with which one can get better results AND

still maintain music and blending effects? On a "normal" PAL TV

screen of about 25" there is no problem, but on a 32" LCD some images

    just look rough.

I used the best rendering option, i.e. DVD setting on the program,

but still I am not happy. Can anybody help?

  2. I own the lens and it is one of my best. Yes, there is some distortion but I don't find it gets into the pic too much. I try to enclose two shots, one I took with my *ist D, there the focal-length is made longer by the multiplying factor and one on film and scanned full frame with my Canon 4000 dpi slidescanner. Perhaps this will give you an idea.<div>00ADIm-20590484.jpg.847f72d8e750295651db6af66dc8f75a.jpg</div>
  3. I just discovered this hot spot on a lot of my recent shots of my six

months old *ist D, is this dirt or a blown or whatever pixel and

should I sent it away for repair?

  4. I've done it with a blowbrush - a couple of times now - no big problem. The main thing is to remember that you have to switch the camera off when you're finished as that brings the mirror back down. I was a little nervous about it and I won't repeat the exercise too often, but the specks became too visible.
