1.
i've been holding out waiting for a small form form factor full frame camera to mount my R glass on. The lenses are heavy enough already, without having to carry around a brick like the Canon 5D.
Mostly, I miss using my 21mm lens, and wouldn't mind having a NEX style body that would work with it.
I got my son a NEX-6 for christmas, and it's quite an impressive camera with real portability, but not full frame.
I believe eventually, EVF will be indistinguishable from an optical viewfinder, with obvious advantages. The NEX has the best EVF I've seen to date.
I'm not an expert on M glass and NEX sensors. I recall some issues with the NEX-7 versus the NEX-5 an M glass. I don't know if a FF sony sensor would be usable with M glass, hopefully it would.

 2.
More full frame DSLR's appear to be coming on the market. I have been using my R glass on a 4/3's system for several years, and it's been ok, but i really want to be able to use my wide angle gear as it was intended.
The cost and bulk of the MK5 doesn't appeal to me.
Nikon and Sony now have full frame DSLR's that appear smaller and lower priced.
I assume Canon will shortly/eventually announce a prosumer FF DSLR as well.
Any advice? Who has experience with the leitax conversion? or the other adapter. Will the sony accept R lens?
The nikon with the leitax adapters installed looks intriguing.
What would you do?
No, I do not want to use the upcoming R-M adapter and get a digital M.

 3.
well, if your actually interested in producing the finest images of guns possible..then why don't you start by studying/contacting the photographers that take images for Holland & Holland, James Purdey & Sons or Boss & Co. These guys are photographing the absolute cream of the crop in bespoke firearms. Find out who they are, pay them a consultant fee, and learn how to do it right.
I've got to say, it seems rather bizarre to purchase a kit like that, and then ask for advice in a forum like this.

 4.
I stand corrected and must eat some crow, err, ostrich now.
yes, you predicted Leica would introduce an ostrich covered M9.
yes, i blew you off as miss informed.
in my defense, whom among us would have predicted TWO vanity cameras within such a short period of time...from a company know for introducing new cameras once in a blue moon.
The "sticker price" of the base model VW/Audi/Titanium M9 appears to exceed the base price of most of the car models that VW makes.
Some of the "luxury" sites have described the Neiman Marcus M9 as a "practical" gift for the man who has everything!

 5.
Lord take me now....I can't stand it anymore.
First the $26,000 VW/Audi?Titanium M9,
now the Neiman Marcus M9.
http://leicarumors.com/2010/10/05/the-leica-m9-neiman-marcus-limited-edition-part-2.aspx/
I'm seriously thinking about getting the new Canon 5d III when it comes out and slapping my R glass on it. I really miss using my wide angles, plus, i can get 1080p movies (with Leica wide glass).

 6.
Concerning the "life expectancy" of the digital M...I recently had a long chat with a commercial photographer, and he shared some insights into "weather sealed" digital cameras. He noted that while a camera has seals, the interior is exposed to the ambient atmosphere when ever you change a lens. With elevation, and cold temp exposure, he noted that sensor fogging from internal condensation of trapped mosture (presumably air introduced to the camera during lens changes at lower altitude) has happened to him. Batteries also become less efficiency at lower temps.

 7.
i have a digilux 3. i like it, and it can take excellent pictures (better than the digilux2 which i also had (sensor died)). i got a adapter from Leica that allows me to use my R lenses on the digilux with a 2x(?) mag factor, thats been fun, All that said, my wife has a 10+ megapixel panasonic p&s camera the size of a credit card, that takes fabulous pictures....kinda depressing. hard to imagine the used D3 id worth 1200. you can get alot of camera these days for that amount of money. i suspect my next purchase in a canon slr, with a adapter for my R lenses...

 8.
for all the naysayers about my wish list:
autofocus option (in body)
liveview
HD video
wifi image offloading
gps image tagging (wifi+gps could function as a lowjack!)
image stablization (in body)
iso 64,000
weather sealed
almost all of these features (or some variation there of) are available NOW in cameras sold at Walmart, for a fraction of what a M sells for. It's absurd to argue against technology that currently fits in a cell phone, and is commonplace, hardly "cutting edge".
i believe the days of the rangefinder focus mechanism have to be limited. there is no doubt that some form of ultrahigh resolution liveview will supplant it for accuracy, reliablity, and small form factor. When you remove the rangefinder mechanism, and replace it with liveview and a internal autofocus/image stab mechanism, you've created a smaller, not larger camera. Your seeing this already in the micro4/3's, and it's going to continuously improve and be applied to more pro level gear.
is there any doubt that the day will come when you cannot tell the difference between an electronic viewfinder image and an optical viewfinder image? It may not happen next year, but it's going to happen within 10 years. With the ISO high enough, you will be able to manually focus in any light condition. Who would dispute the desirability of image stabilization. Why not have autofocus (you don't have to use it). GPS tagging and WiFi image transfer...heck, lots of cell phones have this technology.
Besides, wouldn't you lke to take movies of your kids with your Leica!! Live action with stunning Bokeh! Amazing!!

 9.
"
"Leicachrome?"
They could offer also offer it a black film canister, and call it "Leicablack"
Taking it one step further, why not bespoke, "a la carte Leica film", film canisters in a variety of colors and finishes..
Then you can periodically offer canisters in "Limited Edition", "Special Editiion", "Anniversary Edition:, "Safari Edition"...finishes.
Prices? If you have to ask.....

 10.
if you buy a Leicaflex SL (I have two, one i purchased in the mid 1970's, one i purchased used in the 2000's), beware of the following:
The pentaprisms get infected with a fungus that secretes sulfuric acid and etches the glass (i'm not kidding). The original slotted plastic film retainer on the winding spool cracks and breaks. The original nylon(?) button that releases the lens from the camera body breaks. The battery for the light meter is no longer made.
All these issues are easily fixed with a CLA (penatprism replaced, plastic bits replaced with metal bits, light meter adjusted to accept current batteries), but expect to spend a few hundred more getting the camera tuned up for optimal use. I used Don Goldberg for both of my cameras with nice results (albeit slow turnaround).
These cameras are built like a tank, and once CLA'd, they feel like they should wok for another 30 years (assuming you can still buy film in 30 years.
Someone will eventually come up with "digital film". I only hope i live long enough to see it happen to i can use all my outmoded kit!
