  1. Learn how to use hyperfocal distance focusing for all your landscape photos. It really makes a difference. To do this, focus on infinity, then refocus on the nearest object in focus, obviously using a small aperture. Your photo will be infocus from close up to infinity. Hope this helps anyway. Sometimes when you use a very small aperture, it is very difficult to see the DoF, because of the low light.

  2. Hi Rose,

It's not a film problem. You've tried a few films through it and it does the same thing....not the film. I have a 7000i, an excellent camera, but it doesn't get too much use, so it's stil ok. I think it's time to buy a new camera. The one that I have been most impressed with is the Minolta 600si, an absolutely awesome camera. Very simple to operate, and you can pick up a used one in good condition on e-bay for around US$140.... After 14 years, I think you need a change. Good Luck,

    Barry.

  3. All manufacturers have the 'low', 'medium' and 'high' quality lenses.

Minoltas best lenses are the 'G' range of lense.

'G'-series lenses are Minolta's high-performance class optics. They have the best specifications, feature special advanced technology, and offer the best image quality of all Minolta lenses. G-series lenses are designed to meet the high expectations of the most demanding professional. The quality of the image they produce is among the finest in the industry.

Each G-series lens incorporates one or more of the following features: circular aperture, double floating and floating-focusing systems, Internal focus, Anomalous Dispersion (AD) glass, aspheric elements, and focus-hold buttons.

So really it depends which lens was used to take a photo. I can tell you that these high class lenses ane expensive, and not for the faint hearted. Most people cannot afford these lenses or at least they have to really be able to justify the purchase of one of these. From my own experience, the Minolta and their range of accessories are a formidable entity and take a lot to be beaten. I, personally do not know why the Nikons and Canons are more popular. The Minolta cameras are much more user friendly, and fit in you hands a lot easier and more comfortable than any other camera. I suppose, at the end of the day, you have to decide how serious you are about photography, (and I think that most of us here ARE), and realise that in todays world, you get what you pay for. Minolta also have el-cheapo lenses, which I certainly wouldn't waste money on, but then so do Nikon and Canon and other manufactures.
