  1. May sound silly, but do you have film in? My SQA won't fire the shutter unless the back is at 1 or later on the film counter. It will only dry-fire if you have multiple exposures turned on.

Kinda freaked me out at first when I was just learning the controls.

  2. I'm not sure how immediate your need is, it sounds like you have done without for a while.

If you can wait to see what the pricing and results from the new Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 or 9550 are like you may want to consider it. I've been reading May dates on those. That is my personal plan at the moment.

I don't think there is much to dispute about the Epson quality at this point though. I'm just curious to see if there is a new option or maybe a price drop on the horizon, and I can wait it out that long without a real problem.

  3. I've used my SQ-A handheld for a few months, it took some getting used to, but it isn't bad.

I don't have the speed grip (it should arrive today actually) so I can't tell you anything about that.

When used without the grip I have found that it actually helps to hold the camera sideways (as shown by the photographer here http://www.cheryljacobsphotography.com/contact.html) it puts the shutter release on the top right corner instead of the bottom right and just feels a bit more natural for some kooky reason.

  4. One thing that I don't understand is that I have seen a few posts in various places claiming that the N80 has a better metering system.

From what I can gather, the N80 has a 10 zone meter while the N75 has a 25 zone meter.

The N80 has spot and center weighted spot metering, the N75 only has center weighted spot metering when in manual mode (When else would you really want to use it??).

Maybe I'm just a neophyte, but it sounds like the N75 has an edge here.
