  1. thank you for the many responses, sorry i was not clearer about what i'm shooting, i guess as an extra in my bag i will be shooting mostly outdoor, cities, architecture, some nature etc. ..i just need an all-round good camera, i dont really need raw, nor night-time pics. i have my slr for the more demanding stuff.

    thanx again

  2. Yesterday i bought this lens and compared to other Canon EF lenses i

use, the mounting seems to me a bit tight, i dont have to force it

but it does need extra effort. It doesnt 'slide' like the other

    lenses.

Anyone else experiencing this with canon EF lenses or the EOS 350D?

Is it something i should worry about or is it normal?

    thank you

  3. I have been shooting cnocerts for a bout a year now and 95% of the

time flash is NOT allowed. I therefore have to push the ISO levels

up to 800 & 1600 (using Canon EOS 350D). I always shoot in RAW mode

and then use pixmantec's raw program to work on the pics.

I am not happy however with the noise levels, can anyone recommend a

decent porgram to reduce noise on RAW images?

    thank you

  4. Pete/Marlene thx for the advice on the 70-200, i thought about it too, but i very often shoot in very bad conditions: lots of crowd surfing, stage diving, little security and sometimes no barriers. it would be hard to get that size of lens in a safe position to shoot and i wouldn't want someone's boot in it.

of course this goes for the others too but they can be a little more discreet.

  5. Hi all,

I have been using 2 lenses with the 350D to do my concert pics for

the past 18 months, the EF-S 10-22 which is my favourite and the EF

    28-135 f3.5-5.6 which is ok'ish.

i am now ready to buy a new lens so as to leave the 28-135mm behind

    and i am between the

    24-70 L f2.8 and 24-105 L f4

For concerts, 95% of the time photographers are not allowed to use

flash. the obvious first decision is the 24-70 but that restricts me

    in terms of zoom.

does anyone here use the 24-105 for concerts? does anyone think it

will do well? i mean if the 28-135 did the job 65% of the time i

spose the 24-105 will do to?

any help is appreciated, thank you!

  6. ok what i'm trying to do is freeze a drop of water in mid-air using flash as my kitchen is not lit well. If you look at my gallery you will see many of these drops perfectly frozen with my sony dsc-f828, at a shutter speed of about 1/1000 iso 200.

When trying a 1/1000 shutter speed (iso 200-800) with the EOS 350D and the speedlite 420EX, the drops are not frozen, there are traces of them all over the place.

    What am i doing wrong?

  7. ok thx for your answers and clearing this up...the 350D has an X-sync speed of 1/200 which is crap cause if you want to take macro shots of running water you will only get blurs (which is what i get with my normal flash...)

or am i making some silly mistake here?
