The roses have a nice flowing texture to them. I would try using a white backround to give a more airy feel. The black just seems a little too imposing in context with the subject.

I think the black and white looks kind of dull. if you used photoshop try using monochrome chanel mixer and experiment with the amount of RGB levels. it simulates color response of b&w film for a more natural look than simply desaturating the color.

I find the excessive vignetting to be unnecessary, considering the crop of the picture. This just ruins the picture for me. Excellent expression on the boy's face though.

The croping and composition is ok. I would stay away from the unsaturated color. It takes away from the beauty making her face look gaunt. I would use a strong sepia tone and use a s-cure to enhace the contrast.

Certainly very interesting facade. Almost surrealistic. The black on the to confuses me though. Is it taken at night or is there something blocking the backround? A wider crop showing more of the surrounding would help give a better sense of place to this picture. Very interesting otherwise...

the stare down is definitly a good concept. but I think seeing the two subjects in profile looking at each other would be more effective. Also give the tone some punch with constrast and saturation

Interesting capture of the hummingbirds behavior! I would like to know though what was the shutter set at to nearly freeze frame the hummingbird's wings?

  1. Very nice picture. i like how the building in the upper right is slightly faded. the grain on the tri-x comes out nicely. the only thing that bothers me is the vertical lines of the builings aren't quite parallel due to the wide angle lens distortion.

Very nice tonal values. Look like those of Anne Geddes'. I think the text in unnecessary and you could fill the frame more with your subject. Nice star thought! good luck

Colors on this are fabulous! Lighting is phenomenal! Great work. I don't care for the border though. Try evenly spaced on Left, right, and top, and then considerably wider on the bottom.

I really like this shot. Getting stop action shots in the perfect moment like this is tough. Everyting ties in real nicely between the subject and the players in the backround.
