Two quick thoughts. I believe the shutter won't fire without film loaded. And once, when the film didn't catch on the take-up, the film status bar was blinking and I tried to take a shot and something very similar to your description happened. If you just loaded the film, open the back to check if the film is loaded correctly. The film status bar should not be flashing when film is loaded and ready to use, it should stay lit.

If it does need service you could also try Camera Clinic in Reno, NV they service T90s.
