Peveril Castle in Castleton, Peak District

Eilean Donan castle on the road to Skye. Comments welcomed as always...

A ruined footbridge across Allt Dearg Beag in Glen Sligachan on the
Isle of Skye. The area is criss crossed with small (and large) streams
and rivers with many waterfalls such as this. Any and all comments
welcome.

I'd rather photograph it than try to pronounce it!

. I've used a very wideangle to accentuate height - also pointing a camera up is the only way
of removing the hordes, short of photoshopping! ;-)

I would have loved to have visited during a high tide, and caught some
good waves crashing about these rocks, but it wasn't to be. Low tide
and dead calm. :-(
Any thoughts on the strong foreground? It was my intention to lead the
eye around it via the path, but I'm not quite sure I've pulled it off
to my satisfaction.

I've been past this place a dozen times, and finally found a (brief)
gap in the rain!

They do look precarious! A nice composition.
-
I agree with the above comment, especially the cropping... A nice idea, and well executed.

A partially ruined Cistercian abbey, established in 1201. It's name
means Valley of the Cross.

This is a compostite of two exposures... Even my 10-22mm wouldn't fit
it all in from this view point. There is still some distortion evident
from this technique, hopefully not too off-putting.

Sorry, obviously that should be colour for comparison!
-
I posted a colour version for critique a few days ago... I'd beinterested in your thoughts a the black & white version?

Another from yesterdays trip to the beach. :-)
I'd be interested to hear how you think this works versus the http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6306936">monochromeversion.

A nicely exposed image. Great colour!
I was something had "blocked the precipitation" today... I got soaked!
-
Some strange weather today, I almost gave up and went home but the
rain broke and afforded a few opportunities... Any comments? Thanks...

One of the oldest, and for me, one of the most intersting parts of
Chester cathedral. I'm told the cathedral has stood since 1250 (though
obviously changed much since then) and after a walk around the
cloisters, it's not difficult to believe.

An accurate category? I'd be interested to hear honest opinions on
this one... I'm not a fan of HDR shots as a rule, especially the more
halo-ridden examples that can sometimes be seen. That said, I'm
somewhat drawn to the unreal quality (when done with subtlety) shots
such as this can sometimes have.
Be brutal if you feel so inclined, I'm just as (if not more)
interested in your appraisal of the 'genre' as I am of the photo.

This particular part of the cathedral is very ornate. I've
deliberately underexposed slightly to avoid looking too busy. I'd
appreciate your thoughts.

An attractive and unusual composition, but I feel the curvature of the horizon is distracting... I own the same lens and suffer the same problems when used at the wider end of the zoom; mostly when angled up or down, as it appears to be here. I find the only solutions are to break up the horizon (obviously not possible here without compromising the composition) or to resort to Photoshop.

I'm a little concerned that the shadow over the chimp's eyes detracts
from the picture as a whole, since the expression on it's face is less
visible. I've locally altered the brighness/contrast, but have kept it
subtle to avoid an unnatural look to the chimps face. What do you think?

Feeding time at the Cornish Birds of Prey centre. The falconer didn't
seem too keen to be photographed, so I concentrated on the Buzzard...
Which I'm sure he would agree is much more photogenic in any case!
This was only the second time I have photographed birds in flight so
I'd appreciate any thoughts on composition.
Thanks.

This is a stitch of two seperate images, though I'm not sure if a
tighter crop wouldn't be a better option? I feel I might be biased
towards the panorama after going to the trouble to set up the pano
head. I'd appreciate your thoughts...
