1. Hello,

I put my Mamiya 7 II away for years without being used. I just picked it and try to use it but it deos not turn on. I put new batteries and tried all reset technics I found on the forums and did not help. Anyone knows a good camera repair for Mamiya 7 here in Winnipeg or in Canada where I can send it for repair ?

    thanks

  2.
Hi,
I ordered a Impact LUXBANX OCTA SOFTBOX - MEDIUM and Impact Speed Ring from B&H . However , I have a light kit from Neewer 300 system I bought from amazon . This can not fit in this softbox .
Any recommendation on which speed ring I should get in order to be able to use it with my Neewer strobe system ?
Thanks .

  3.
Hi all,
Thanks for all your help . At the end , I decided not to be the main photographer because it became bigger and bigger and I had many responsibilities for the organization . I did get a chance to make few shots , here are 2 . All taken with D810 , sigma 35 f1.4 and SB910 .
Not many, but any comment is welcome .
Thanks again .

  4.
All good , thanks . I will try to use the same setting in my D700 for skin tones and WB (if I remember it ) :)
I have this weekend to practice the D810 setting .
Will post some pics after wedding ..
Thanks you all .
One last question . RAW or JPEG or SRAW ?
On the D700, I use to shoot Raw+Jpeg .

  5.
Very useful information , thanks a lot .
FOr indoor flash , I always use 1/60s indoor . But you are suggesting 1/200s and f 5.6 or 11 . his means I will need high ISO , correct ? Wouldn't this give me grain in my images ?

  6.
Hi ILkka,
I did couple of weddings for friend with a D700 and SB800 , but I am not a professional . Way in the past I did family and friends wedding with a Mamiya 645 film . But for all the wedding I did for family and friends, it was success .
I still have my SB800, I guess I can use it for backup . For second camera , I consider my fuji X-T1 (ya different lol)
I have the D810 but did not have the chance to use it a lot , I am very familiar with D700 I sold for D810 .
As for photography experience , I do mostly family pictures, holidays pictures .

  7.
Hi all,
I will be taking picture of my brother next weekend , small wedding . I will be using D810 with 24-70,85F1.8g and sigma 35 f1.4 and SB910 .
That's all I need I think
What kind of setting do you use in your D810 ?
Also , any suggestion on memory cards ?
Thanks for your suggestions

  8.
Hi,
To add a little bit more details
- I will be using for outdoor , my son is starting next week . But I will have occasion to shoot indoor too, so having a lens for both will be a plus .
- The kids do not use the full field to play ,8years old , they only use half of it or less . SO i THINK 200 should be enough for now .
I haven't used non of these lenses .
Is it a good idea to by the ninon 70-200 on ebay to save money ?
Thanks all

  9.
Mike , not looking for free lunch , but might have free desert . lol
I am convinced for the need of the f2.8 , for indoors . Ok , now I will sow between nikon 70-200 or Sigma . I will post some pics to thank everybody .

  10.
Thanks . No , I do nto want to carry a monopod to shoot soccer , I want hand held . Looks like the 200-400 is heavy.
I don't find flexibility on the fix 300/2.8 , I would prefer a zoom .
I will check reviews on the 70-300 VR and some sigma new super zooms. I might be wrong but I always have in mind that super zoom are not that sharp , but never tried them .
Thanks again .

  11.
Thanks for all comment and suggestions . I am now considering the sigma because of price and the nikon 200-400 for bigger range . Deos the 200-400 has this nice background bokeh wide open like the 700-200 f:2.8 ?
Any comment ?

  12.
Hi,
I have D810 and wanted to get a lens for my kids soccer game . I am hesitating between the 70-200 f2.8 and the latest 28-300
The price difference is huge . Am I losing a lot besides the f2.8 on the 70-200 ?
Thanks for any suggestions .

  13.
UPDATE ...
I just received a call from the vendor . This was not definitely the camera we we talked about on the phone , they sent me the wrong camera by mistake . He has taken an immediately the followin action after his apologies :
- He will send me the right camera he put aside for me asap. I already received the order number and all detail to review .
- He sent me a UPS electronic label to use when returning the camera from Canada so I will not pay shipment fees .
I will returning today and get the right camera . So , I am happy .
Thanks to all of you.
Thanks to Shun for involving Helen.
Thanks to Helen for any assistance or investigation you have done to solve this issue .

  14.
Thanks a lot for all your input . It was very helpful and educational . Base on all these advices and comment , I have took the following decision. I requested more rebate on the camera to the vendor . If they accept, I will keep the camera . If they don't I will send it back and take Shaun's advice , wait for a possible newer version in September .

  15.
Hi Helen,
Of course I gathered a certain impression about what I am buying . I am not a big fan of used equipment I just buy new what I can afford. That's why I intentionally called back and ask again about the condition .
For my education , what is the difference between demo and used ? Why do we use these 2 words for not new camera ? There should be a reason .
In my invoice , it is cleary written demo camera too . I am not trying to invent anything . One of your seller I gave the name knows me very well since 2002 . I order directly by calling his direct line and he shipped me equipment in Paris , Canada wherever I am .
You can ask the vendor to verify I said, unless your position or structure deos not allow you to do so , then my apologies . If he says something different , then use the recording . I sent you the name and phone number of the person , and I forwarded you the mail I sent him complaining.
The main reason why I posted here is , did I get a good price on this camera with 14270 and can a demo have that much shots .

  16.
HiHelen ,
Thanks I wil send you the information. It will not be easy to give you exact time of the calls because I did many calls , specially when I got mail back from Adorama telling the camera is back ordered . ANy ways I will give you in the mail as much details I can , and the name of the person I dealed with . This all happen 3 weeks ago . I have been Adorama client since 2002 . When I order , I call directly Efraim who is an excellent person . This time , it was someone else.

  17.
Shung , it's almost like that too in this purchase . I sent them the following equipment for trade because I wanted to upgrame my system . I will not tell yu how much they offer me.lol
D700
LEICA M7 with 50f2 summicron,
Nikon 85F1.4,
fuji X100
All in excellent condition , because I am not a pro and don;t take zillion of photos . Jus a hobby . So he told me he has what I want . The next day, I got a mail from Adorama that the item is back ordered , Fuji X-T1 . He endup sending me only the D800 . He did it twice , even so the second time I insisted if they really have it on stock .

  18.
Thanks you guys , for fast reponse and suggestions .
I just took some pictures with 50f1,4 and 24-70 f2.8 and they look ok . What I mean strap is it is a used one , not even close to a new . My understanding of a demo is a camera that sits in the store to show to potential client to try . But may be I was wrong .
Yes, I still can return it because I have 30 days to do so.
to Shun: I am not in a rush to have a camera now , I still have my fuji X100S . So sending it back and wait might be an option . I wanted the D800 so badly, and decided to trade with y D700 I had .
I will sleep on it and decide by tomorrow . Thanks all for your suggestions .

  19.
Hi all,
I wanted to buy a Nikon D800 . On the phone , the vendor told me they have demo one for $2389. He told me (exactly his word) , it's like you take a new camera , open it 5 minutes and close it . So I accepted . I just got the camera , but I can tell it's being used as soon I open the box. The trap is in a bad shape . But the body is very good, almost no sign of use . However , I tried in 3 different on the web to get the shutter counter. They all gave me 14270 . I am quite disappointed the fact he lied to me . But my question is is this a good price ? Should I keep it or return it ?
PLease give me your opinion .
