  1. This got me remembering a couple others. With kids, it's easy...

I would have older kids say "Daddy wears pantyhose" or "grannys underpants" Kids around 5 or 6 like saying words like "buger" or "I kiss girls/boys"..that one usually gets a great expression to capture.

Kids around 3 and up give me great smiles when I tell them.."don't you dare smile at me"..they can't help it..they have to do what they're told not to do. Although I have had it backfire and they take me seriously. Babies from 8 months to about 2 love it when I take a tissue and put it on my face and go "pooooh" so that the tissue flies into the air. I've put small toys on my head and have the child(or mommy if the child is shy) blow it off..if you jerk back a little bit, the toy should come off in front so you can catch it.

I was a photog for Walmart for several years and had to come up with little tricks. I'll probably think of more later..I'll post em if I do.

  2. One of the best lines I use to loosen up a large group...

I ask everyone to lick their lips and after they do, I tell them to lick the lips of the person standing next to them.

At one wedding, the little ring bearer took it literally and licked the arm of the flower girl. Everyone cracked up and it made the best shot. I wish I still had a copy of it.

  3. I have a few families that would like portraits taken at a pretty park near

here. Subjects will range from a couple of toddlers to several adults. I

thought I would get a hay bale and maybe a pumpkin and an apple basket, but I

was hoping to get some ideas on posing.

    Thanks,

    Alice

  4. You might try www.guru.com. You can put in a profile and people can "bid" on jobs. If someone posts a project that fits your criteria, Guru will contact you with a "project notification". You can then see what it is, and if you want it submit a proposal.

  5. My business partner and I have been interested in doing this for a long time. We thought about taking the laptop to show the pictures and take the orders right then. Any suggestions on what kind of packages and prices for something like this?
  6. Thanks for the advice, everyone. Larry..The $1K we came up with would be in addition to the $1K they paid for the wedding and proof album of approx 500 4x6s. The reason I'm thinking of doing the disk this one time, is because the bride manages a 1-hour lab and I figure she'll be copying all the pictures, anyway. So I know, even though we put "ᄅOn The Go Studio" on the backs of all pictures, there is a good chance many of the pix will find their way thru the lab.

So, even though they've already paid $1K for the wedding, is another $1K too much to ask for the disks of all the pictures?

    Thanks again,

    Alice

  7. I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't find anything in

the Search. I have a wedding client that asked how much we charge

for all the pictures on cds for her to print. Personally, I am

against this, but to be honest, I'll be glad to get this job DONE.

My husband says $1000, but that sound a little too high to me. I'm

just curious what others have charged or what sounds fair to present

    to the client.

    Thanks,

    Alice

  8. What a great thread. I had my last two kids at home and had pictures taken of the events. I'm also a midwife that practices home deliveries and have a wonderful album of priceless photos that parents have shared with me over the years.

Just enjoy the experience and be prepared to cry along with the parents. I've helped nearly 400 kids into the world and I still cry at each one.
