That explains me, how it works. But for me it's is not really transparent or how do I find out through which queue the ratings came in?

It says: "Only the anonymous ratings in the Rate Recent feature are used in some of the Top Rated Photos rankings." - is in this case not correct for the Rate Recent Average list.

And it seems that raters prefer the category rating instead of the rate recent option.

If we have more then 700 photos which are not in the Rate Recent average list - I would say that this list is useless or more a stochastic representation of a Top Photos List.

I would rather prefer a top photos list per category.

I still think that they have a kind of processing problem. If you look under rate recent (Browse) and take the group with 1-4 ratings you find 766 photos! and several (also one of mine) which show not under rate recent average. If you look on the details you see that they have much more then 4 ratings.

Take the photo of Roger Sandgren - the system tells you it has four ratings - but in fact it has 7 anonymous ratings - and it shows not in the rate recent average list. As long as the system counts <5 it does not show in the rate recent average list.

My conclusion : some processing is delayed or not correct done. But I may be wrong.

I think we have a processing problem the whole day long. At the moment we get the same photos as top "rate recent average" - if you look at Massi Cricco's photo it has a complete other rating and should have another position in th TRP. This was also the case 12 hours ago.

Thanks a lot for your contributions which are on a very high level and as a Swiss I?m not as perfect in english to easy formulate good appropriate answers.

I asked a rather provocative question. My conclusion: Yes - it is also for me not really a top photo and I got very good technical feedback and expert knowledge how to improve it.

But - yes - it may also be that some raters do not think in categories of Aesthetics and Originality but do express some political and religious opinion by rating. Others have made the same experience.

In fact I can?t ask them about their motivation, because we have this rather strange anonymous rating system. And I'am sure if I could I would not really get an answer.

I often got some bad ratings but not 2 times with originality = 1. I am guessing what the two guys had in mind.

or can anybody help with the interpretation of the ratings I got.

I posted this mountain picture and was happy to have a good rating.

But then at the end I got two strange ratings a/o 3/1 and a/o 2/1.

I really do not want to complain about the rating but I have no idea

how to interprete this. Is that kind of picture coming every day - or

do I have a problem with the cross? Or is it just a picture with a

very low originality?
