This is one of those rare photographs that carries both a strong emotional impact and excellent artistic elements. It is clear that mother and daughter are not on a trip to the Laundromat. Their location by the railroad tells me of the way they are traveling and their clothing and facial expression something about their plight. A great people photograph!

This is an excellent image. You have asked for ideas to make it better. I'm slightly bothered by the varying amount of light on the elbows. It neither increases nor decreases as my eyes follow the series of elbows. This gets my brain asking why isn't the light equal on all, or find it increasing or decreasing as I scan the series. I think my brain sees the light coming from top right but then the pipes in the middle have less light than those at the bottom. Overall, an excellent photographer's eye.

For my eyes, the center of attention is the gown. It is wonderfully photographed and lighted. I find less to interest me with the model's face or hands and arms. Perhaps the suggestion of more detail in the model's hair would help.
