1.
the only time your "quality" (and by that i am assuming you mean resolution), will change is if you are scaling up... that will be basically like you are scaling up in ps without changing the dpi. the higher you go the bigger chance you will have a "digity" image.... make sense? so, it is best to set your images correctly in photoshop before you import into indesign. i find that making them larger in photoshop then scaling down in indesign produces a more crisp image, constraining the pixels is better than enlarging them.
indesign is a great tool for photographers, i have been using since it came out. good luck!
three-year-old and one on the way, with a full time job as a graphic designer. does

anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do to make myself do a good

if you want your files to give that professional appeal, then you should buy a

macintosh. if all you need is photoshop and maybe a pagelayout program, then you

could lay out all of your ads along with producing your photographs. also, macs come

with iLife. which is a bundle of really cool apps!

they ARE faster, they ARE better, they ARE more user-friendly!!!!

to see tomorrow's pee cee look at today's macintosh!!!!

    enough said.
