Mint condition think tank mini roller. I got this a few years ago for my trip to Asia, used only once. Left it at home (in asia) so it's in pristine condition. It's great for the local shoots.
I really got it for holding my gear, and it's small enough I can pick up and toss in my trunk.

Todd, which travelite kit did you get?
What I ended up doing yesterday was going to a local camera shop and picked up a 6' stand, hot-shoe adaptor for the stand, and a convertable umbrella. I mounted my SB800 and tried shooting both through and reflect. I was quite amazed at how much light the SB800 actually delivered. What I found out when I rented the travelite studio set was that it delivered a bit too much light. I even dialed it down, but syncing at 1/250, I had to use f/11 or so. I later learned that filters are needed to use a wider aperture, or I was just doing something wrong. Been combing sites since trying to see how to properly set it up.
Since I'm not sure where I'm headed with this, I may just try the SB800 solution with a reflector or so to keep the cost down. If I really get into it, then I may invest in better equipment. This is really just a hobby for me, but who knows what the future may hold. =P
Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll definitly take it to heart.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see which is more cost effective. There are some shops around here that have a 3 light kit with stands and box for < $300. Probably nothing great, but I'm new at this so doesn't make too much sense investing too much into it.
Thanks again!

Hi,
I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but a quick search
didn't turn up much. Basically, I'm looking to give studio/portrait
photography a try. I'm mostly going to start out with in-animate
objects, such as flowers, vases, etc, not people. So I'm wondering if
I should invest in an actual studio light setup (Calument has a
travelite kit with one light, umbrella, stand, cord for $519 right
now, a dual light kit is $879 I think) and softbox, or invest in
another 1-2 hot-shoe flash units. I'll be using a digital SLR, Nikon
D2H/D2X. So I was thinking I might be able to just get another SB800
and use the Nikon CLS with a reflector or two.
Thanks in adv.
