I think there is much greater depths [pun not intended] of meaning available here.
By it's name, the ship is obviously of 'Western' origin, the spot of the drop [there I go again...] in the Red sea is 'Eastern'. I think you can all work out the rest ... It could be seen as a very load statement of something we don't wish to 'look into tooo deeply'.
