Another very choose is the AFS 24-85mm f3.5-4.5G, fast focus! Although you can only get it secondhand now, worth look around for it!

There are so many Nikon Lenses without VR, AFS50mm certainly no needs, 14-24mm f2.8, 24-70mm f2.8, 85mm f1.4 has no VR, however they are great lenses!

Just tried the new 10-24mm, the build quality is poor compare to 12-24mm, so cheap plastic feel. For the same money, I will stay with the 12-24mm

The attached is AFS35mm with D3, only a bit dark corner, very sharp indead.

Try the Nikon AFS24-85 f3.5-4.5 G, I have both, a bit more distortion and a stop slower than the AFS24-70mm, cheap 2nd hand and very sharp!!!

Again strongly recommend the 85mm f1.4, very nice portrait lense

May be you should also consider Polaroid 600SE and Fuji FP-1 pack film Polaroid camera. I
have experience with both, very sharp photo. Fuji FP-1 is more handy.

I have been using Adobe Lightroom to process M8 DNG, result is great, much better than C1.
Also Lightroom and Photoshop compliment to each other.
Simple to minimize the magenta effect.

I think we should wait for just a short while and see the result of the new Tri Elmar
16-18-21. Of course it is not going to be cheaper, however if the result is good, it may
affect prices on other lenses.

150pcs to 200pcs were made in M mount.

Consider the high price of following lenses and their cult status, are they really special?
15mm Hologon f8, 21mm Super Angulon f3.4 (Black, last version), 35mm Summicron 8 elements, 33mm
Stemar f3.5 Stereo, 35mm Summilux Aspherical (1st version), 50mm Noctilux f1.2, 65mm Elcan, 85mm
Summarex f1.5, 90mm Elmar 3 elements, 90mm Thambar f2.2, 90mm Noctilux f1 Elcan, 125mm Hektor
f2.2 viso, 180mm Tele Elmarit f2.8 viso
Some of these, prices are over US$5,000, practical shooter? or we are just considering they are pieces of
antique? All these were production models, not including the prototype and blackpaint.

I have been shooting mine for 3 weeks, comparing with my Noctilux and Summicron. The
new ASPH version is much sharper than the Summicron at f2 and above. However I like
the Noctilux at f1 and f1.4, I guess just the matter of taste.
The lens is small enough in my pocket, so I travel with my 35mm Summilux Asph, great
compliment for street photography.

All Noctilux even the f1.2 version has been built in Canada. The current Noctilux is stock
from previous production run.
Cheers.

Just to clarify-
To me the image from the Noctilux at f1 visually looks better and much more pleasing
than the Summilux ASPH at f1.4. I would not say the image from Noctilux is technically
better or comparable to the Summilux.
Some may say the Noctilux is oil pastel kind of medium and Summilux ASPH is a sharp
pencil. I would agree to that. However Summilux ASPH as f1.4 is a dull pencil, a bit
disappointing but certainly more than acceptable.

I was shooting with a single camera mounted on a tripod, a roll of film on a single scene.
10 exposures with each lens at different apertures. The roll of film was finished within
20mins. The main purpose was to find the fingerprint from each lenses to suit my style.

Got my 50mm Summilux Asph this week, shot a roll of Fuji RDP3. On the same roll of
film, I was shooting along with my Noctilux and Summicron (current version), trying to
compare whether the new one really worth the claim. All the photo was taken with the
camera mounted on a tripod. All I was shooting was a crumbled newspaper taped on the
window.
The result to my surprise that the new lens is sharp! very sharp even to the corner. It
actually performs better than the Summicron at same aperture. At f5.6, i guess the
aspheric correction, the photograph look much flatter than the summicron.
I am no Erwin Puts, I cannot explain how & why technically the Asph version is better than
the summicron, however the result to me is impressive.
Compare to Noctilux, the asph is different, totally different resulting images, Noctilux is
much more painterly. Noctilux looks better at f1 than the Summilux at f1.4. The
transition from foreground to background is nicer with the Noctilux, much softer.
Will spend the weekend shooting with my 3 50mm's. Hopefully some example to post
here.
Cheers.
