I just like this shot very much and rate it highly especially in originality terms. I guess it's the happy faces we see in inanimate objects that make this one appeal. My question to you is whether you set out for high grain, or whether perhaps this is an extreme crop of a much larger 35mm neg?
  1. However, I feel that the crop on the left hand edge is a little too severe (is it a crop or full-frame); the bigger rock/cliff(?) seems crowded by the left edge; a little more space to its left to allow it to 'breathe' would otherwise finish this image off for me. I'm still impressed, though :-)

  2. ...but I find the similar colours of the background rocks and the wood of the boat spoils an otherwise fine image for me, as my eye seems to have the two merging - but then, as I mentioned, it could be a factor of the limitations of scanning->jpeg->cheap work monitor, so I reserve judgement :-)

The only other thing I might add is that (due to the obviously strong Greek light) the DOF seems to have both the background and boat in acceptible focus - perhaps using a slower film (Kodachrome 25 or Velvia, say) and opening up a couple of stops might be more aesthetically pleasing, but I think it would be a matter of personal preference rather than anything technically wrong with the shot.
