  1. Thanks Edward. I am kindda leaning toward the 2540 because its folded length is shorter than the 2530 and it;s easier to pack in the bag. I may need to add some weight when I am using it to add some stiffness to the legs...so 2540 probaby enough for 200mm lens or Medium Format with standard lens?
  2. Hi all,

I would like to get some inputs from you guys to see which one tripod option

is better for my needs. I am thinking to replace my good old manfrotto

    3021BPRO with either Gitzo GT2540 or GT1540.

I feel that 3021BPRO is getting heavier as age is catching up :) I like to

travel and I am shooting on digital SLR and Medium Format so with that in mind

    I compared the two tripod:

    GT1540 Specs:

Height with column extended: 159.0 cm / 62.6 in

    Section: 4

    Weigh: 1.1 kg / 2.5 lbs

    Minimum height: 29.0 cm / 11.4 in

    Folded length: 54.0 cm / 21.3 in

    Height w/o column extended: 138.0 cm / 54.3 in

    Load Capacity: 8.0 kg / 17.6 lbs

    Price at B&H: USD534.95

    GT2540 Specs:

Height with column extended: 156.0 cm / 61.4 in

    Section: 4

    Weigh: 1.4 kg / 3.1 lbs

    Minimum height: 29.0 cm / 11.4 in

    Folded length: 56.0 cm / 22.0 in

    Height w/o column extended: 133.0 cm / 52.4 in

    Load Capacity:12.0 kg / 26.5 lbs

    Price at B&H: USD589.95

I like the weight of Gt1540, but feel that it's a little too small if I am

using 200mm leans or the MF, but it actually hold more load than my current

    3021BPRO (max 13.3lbs - 6kg). With GT2540, I will need to take a little more

weight (.6lbs--prob not significant) and also pay a little bit more, but seems

like it is a better choice...can you let me know what you think or if you have

experience with either of these tripods? thanks you.

  3. Thanks Stever and Q.G. The one that keep coming off was glued using double tape (it wasn't original holder, but something like Q.G mentioned). Yes, one time the holder just came off, I guess the heat and humidity in Asia just soften the tape alittle bit. I will search ebay and check with local to see what they have.

    Thanks a bunch

  4. I recently bought a 503CX that comes with two 120 backs. One of the back has

the dark slide holder, but recently it comes off easily. I was trying to fix

that and was wondering if someone can give me advice on how to put the holder

propertly. It was taped using double tape, but I think there should be a better

    way to do it properly.

The second back doesn't come with slide holder, where can I get one? Thanks for

    your help in advance.

  5. I carried 2 digital cameras + CF cards from US to UK through airports several time few months ago and also to Asia without any problems. When I carry slides, I always asked them to hand check the films. Most of the airports in big cities will take time to check them one by one, so you will need to be patient and give yourself enough time to catch your flight. At some airports in Asia, usually in smaller and less modern countries, they will just look at the slides and let you carry them through. Hope this helps.
  6. Alexandru,

You mentioned that "With the 5D you need to press a button and you'll see ISO information in the viewfinder, but not any other information (shutter, aperture, etc). You can change it then with a dial and it will be changed in the viewfinder too.", I don't see that ISO information in my viewfinder, is there a CF in 5D that I need to set to see this? If there is, I probably miss that, but can you tell me how to show the ISO in the ViewFinder on 5D? thank you.

  7. Michael,

I am thinking to spend 2 days in Teton before I head to other places. From your experience, which trails are the best? I guess it's kindda subjective, but since this is my first time to Tetons, I would love to hear what you think. thanks again.

  8. Dave, seems like Jenny Lake or Signal Mt. are the strategic spots to camp judging from the map. I will try to get there early to "claim" my camp spot :) Michael and Brett, those are nice pictures you shared. thanks. First time I saw the shot from schwabacher landing in Tim Fitzharris' book and it was just amazing. Do you all think 2 days in Grand Tetons is sufficient to, at least, see the main landscape? I know there are many many spots to explore.

    regards.

  9. sorry if I started to ask the wrong question. however, just want to clarify that I have not received the camera that I ordered and I agree that it would be unethical to return something that I've used just to save a few bucks. I was just playing that scenario in my mind when I asked that question. Hope everything take that question with no offence. peace.
  10. Hi All,

I am doing my research to Grand Teton in June and I have seen some

picture taken from Schwabacher Landing. I looked at the NPS map, but

I can't seem to find the location. Can someone tell me where it is?

Also, I am planning to camp out in grand teton, which spot is the

best place get a good view of the mountain range? Do you have any

suggestion where to take sunset and sunrise pictures? thanks for the

    advice in advance.

    regards.

  11. I had mine cleaned by canon in US and it came back dirtier before I sent to them. Sent back and asked them clean it again. However, I had a good experience with Canon singapore, cleaned it good for SG$25 (about US$15).

Is the ISO view on 5D the same with 20D where it will disappear after a few seconds? I had ISO "accidents" several times where I set my 20D to higher ISO the previous night and the next morning, I forgot that it's still in high ISO and obviously I didn't press the ISO button to check it. It will be nice to have the ISO setting visible all the time.

  13. Hi All,

I will be doing a road trip to several National Parks in the next

few months and one of the place I am thinking to visit is Grand

Canyon. I read about Havasu Falls, but since I am travelling by

myself and considering the hike distance and the load I have to

carry, I might regret to skip this spot. However, do you have any

suggestions about good places for sunset, sunrise or any beautiful

spots that worth visiting? Many thanks in advance.

  14. Everyone, I am sorry if this is not the right forum to ask the

questions, but since I am an EOS user, I hope that other EOS users

can help me out and give me some suggestions.

I am thinking to start adigital printing service business when I

return to Asia some time this year. I have seens some good digital

printing services here in the US, from regular digital printing,

poster printing, photo book, etc. provided by some online photo

servicer like snapfish, photoworks, or kodak gallery.

Although photography is my hobby, but I don't have enough experience

on setting up such business. Obviously there are many aspects

involve to set up this kind of business, the techincal issues, the

business, the financing to mentioned a few.

So, for those who understand the business better, do you know what

kind if printing equipments needed to at least provide the basic

digital printing? if I really want to spend my time and effort to

make this business works, do you suggest to partner with other

established business available that can provide the techincal and

    business assisntance?

Thanks for any help or suggestion in advance and sorry again for

posting the questions in the EOS forum.

    regards,
