  1. I should have been clearer in my question. I am going to provide about 500 images to them. I want them to fit on 1 dvd abd not take up too much storage on thier computer hard drive when they store them there.
  2. Thanks for the discussion. I am leaning to the JPEG solution the only thing holding me back, I guess is that there will be so much low light shots. I will be shooting mostly with my 70-200 2.8IS and 28-70 2.8. I just love how I can adjust for the exposure and keep my noise in check with my 20D. The 40D should more that compensate for the noise and still shoot in JPEG, at least that is what I am hoping.
  3. I am getting ready to photograph a High School production of Singing in the

Rain. I am hoping to get some opinions on what format I should shoot. I just

received my 40D and shooting in the full Size RAW would not be feasable due to

the number of photo's I pland to shoot and the storage of those shots. So,

should I just shoot JPEG or in the sRaw mode which is 1/4 the size of the

standard RAW image and the file size is cut in half. I have had great success

in shooting in full RAW on my 20D and the file size is much smaller than that

of the new 40D. (or maybe use my 20D and shoot in raw) I would appreciate any

thoughts. I plan on offering the photo;s for sale to the students and parents

and most sizes with be 4x6 to print.

  4. You can set the master 580 to not participate in the exposure. This can be done by the main flash firing a preflash which triggers the slave. Check the flash manual on page 36. If you push the zoom button and go thru the options, you will be able to toggle on and off the flash lightning bolt icon. Hope this helps.
  5. I too have had issues with some sort of Bezel messages showing up and freezing up the system. I had to Ctrl-Alt-Del after every move to end the task. Stayed up 6 hours till 3 in the morning trying to process close to 1000 images where I could have done it in less than 2 or 3 had the system responded properly. This only happened when importing a large amount of shots.
  6. Shooting with my 20D, I recently purchase a 4GB Sandisk Extreme III memory

card and it is so sloooooow. Could it be a counterfit card? This is the same

brand that I have in a 2GB card, however my 2GB card writes much faster than

the 4? Is this normal for a larger card or could it be some sort of knock off

    that I purchased?

  7. I am heading for New York City 1st thing in the morning with my wife and 3

Children for the Christmas Holidays. I was hoping for some suggestions as the

best walkaround lens to take around the city. Really hate to bring all my

lenses so I would appreciate any suggestions from those who have been there.

    My choices of Canon lenses for my 20D are...70-200 f/2.8IS, 28-70 f/2.8L, 50mm

1.8 and 20-35 f/3.5. Thanks for the tips...

  8. In the plays and Dance Concerts I have shot, I have found that shooting in manual mode works best. Either 400 or 800 iso depending on the lighting and most shots are taken at around f/3.5 to f/4 at at least 1/60 to 1/100. F/2.8 for the darkest shots and please watch your histogram often. You will probaly have to adjust often. I shoot Raw but you have to be willing to do several hours of post processing. Shoot too many shots so you have many to pick from.<div>00J70k-33932684.jpg.6bb61015f7a5e97ea76539b61af5feb5.jpg</div>
  9. If you are looking for inexpensive and decent quality, walmart online offers a good quality glossy print, but not the one hour in store service. If you upload online and have them print and ship to the store, it takes a few days but worth the wait if you don't need in too quickly. The best all around prints I have seen and used is "mpix.com". Unbeleivable print quality with a choice of paper. Thier metalic finish is brilliant and the true B&W paper is a work of art.
