  1. I am using a 20D and 30D (bought the 20D used as a back-up) and am 99.5% certain that I'll be getting a 5D mk II. The 0.5% reservation is my wife which might turn into a 0% chance of purchase. I think this new camera will offer everything I need.

That being said, while the dSLR market is starting to mature I would not be surprised to see some truly evolutionary changes in technology in our lifetime. Say, dynamic range for example. These are really mini-computers as much as they are cameras and I think we have not even scratched the surface of what is possible.

Lots of my glass is 10+ years old but I doubt I'll hang onto any body for that long and I shoot most of my images at iso 100.

  2. I'd definitely recommend Morraine Lake as your first stop just outside of Banff. It's minutes from Lake Louise which is a very popular tourist location. Both spots require minimal walking to get great views. Even though Louise is more popular, I think Morraine is the best spot in either Jasper or Banff. One hint though, if the mountains are clouded over go for a coffee and come back. The weather changes by the minute up there. I've posted a few pictures of Morraine at www.members.home.net/mvanessen/digital.html My pictures don't do the place justice. Johnston's Canyon is also quite nice but I think it's 3 or 4 km roundtrip (that's 1.9 to 2.5 miles for all you Yanks) to get to the upper falls. In Jasper, Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake are very pituresque but again the walk at Maligne Canyon can be a bit taxing and treacherous if it's wet.
