I'll start by shooting small birds, white tail deer, Turkey, Eagles, & Geese.
I live in Nebraska along the Missouri River. When the Geese migrate, there are many eagles that follow. There are many Canadian geese that actually winter here. Last year I was able to get with 30 yards of a tree of eagles. Quite a site...lots of dead fish below the tree.
Many deer here and if you take the time...you can see plenty early in the morning and at dusk.
Sometimes, also, Swans come thru which are quite majestic.
I used to pheasant hunt a lot. But I've lost the killing interest and just enjoy watching them, plus my old English Springer is now in doggie heaven. I know it takes many many many hours of hunting to actually see an old cock on the ground. But they sure are beautiful, especially if the sun is hitting them.

Folks,
I just found this forum yesterday and I really enjoy it. I have a
canon rebel with the kit lens in route..not in my hands yet.
I just ordered a lens 2 days ago, Canon 75-300 F/4.0-5.6 III USM
Lens (seperate order). After finding this forum and reading many
posts, it seems like an unwise selection of lens and I should have
ordered the CANON EF 70-200MM f/4L USM. At least I think that is
what is recommended. I know it is over twice the cost.
About me. I used to be into SLR shooting 25 years ago and then
went into the automatics doing the family raising part of my life.
Now learning about Digital SLR in a price range I can afford, my
interest is really peaking.
So does anyone have experience returning a lens that hasn't
arrived yet, but I can't change the order on line because it is
being processed to be sent out? Is Amazon.com easy to work with if
I want to return the lens?
And...is the CANON EF 70-200MM f/4.0L USM a good selection? Are all
the acronyms on this lens correct? No way can I afford the f2.8. I
plan on using this lens for wildlife, outdoor, and action shots.

Thanx for all the input.
I've been away from SLR shooting for nearly 20 years. So I'm just getting back into it. I just didn't want to order over the net without any info on the bag. Where I'm located isn't that many places to see gadget bags. So ordering over the net is a way of life unless you want to take a day to drive to city and back.
I wish I would have found this site prior to my ordering of the equipment I did. I woudn't have ordered one of the lenses so I guess I will see what their return policy is like.
Thanx again and be assured I'll be asking elementary questions learning this new technology of an old passion.
thanx

Hi,
I just ordered a Canon Rebel with a couple of lenses. I didn't
order a gadget bag. Is there any recommendations. One minor issue
is a bag with a side pocket for my manual. Any comments I'd
appreciate greatly.
Thanx

Lazo,
Jump into the new century. Learning is a great opportunity and from this newbie, I look at it as a great challenge and learning experience. There are great forums like this to ask questions and get answers quickly.
I just found a website with lessons that I'm learning from, Canon Digital Learning Center @ photoworkshop.com.
Plus, my Rebel is still in route. I don't even have it yet!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you really think about going the digital SLR route...do it. The money one can spend in slowly getting to one place can be extremely high.
Heck, I know I'm going to being asking elementary questions.
I saw somewhere that there isn't any stupid questions
only stupid people asking them.
Well, I'm going to be in the stupid category for a long time but I'm looking forward to it.
Looking forward for you to be asking the same type questions along with me.
Cheers and go for it!!!!!!!!!!
