  1. Nice shot! Look at those colors! And from the looks of it he was moving & you

probably had time for just one good shot? Well, I'm impressed! Thank you for

the post. You have an impressive portfolio also. Just a couple of critiques.....

present ONLY your very best (hard to pick, I know), eliminate duplicated efforts

(like so many deer photos & some others) & polish your compositional skills which

are not all that bad at present. Remember the rule of thirds & BALANCE. Also,

some subjects need plenty of space around them; others need to be cropped tight. These critiques can apply to almost everyone (including me) on photo.net, so please

don't take offense, as I'm just trying to be helpful to others who want to be better

photographers, and I can see from your photos that you have been at it quite a while

and strive to be the best that you can. Bottom line....I like your work; keep posting!

  2. Concerning "luck".....there is a saying that seems appropriate here. " The harder I

work, the luckier I get." Talent, hard work, practice, desire & motivation all go into

producing great pictures, or anything else that is worthwhile and above the norm.

This picture is an excellent example of the efforts of a dedicated photographer (not

a snapshooter who got "lucky"). The time, the place, the event are all important

elements, but the photographer has to be prepared and waiting for the decisive

moment. That means having other attributes: knowledge of subject and patience to

wait for the right moment. If you've ever tried getting "good" pictures of wildlife, you

know what I mean. This picture was no accident. : )

A real eye catcher! For improvement, clone out the bench at the base of the tree,

and rotate picture 1 degree counter clockwise. Composition & balance are very good.

    5/5.

  3. I think she could have been standing near or against the darkest tree at right.

Maybe leaning against it. Also the lady looks like she's slightly off balance. She

needs to be more perpendicular and moved to the right about half an inch. Just

my obvservations, NOT absolutes. : ) Otherwise, an interesting picture. I like the

concept. It works. Keep shooting & posting.

Reminds me of Elizabeth Cotten, the lady singer, guitarist that wrote the famous

song entitled "Freight Train". Great shot. 'Nuff sed. : )

What would happen if you lightened the image about 20%?

It is beautiful, but it has a late evening feel to it overall, although the sky & clouds

say it is not. Interesting & good composition, nevertheless.

    Beautiful shot. Just needs a little fine tuning. Crop out the building on the left edge;

Crop right edge up to frosty bush, or clone out the fence post & crop half inch off

right side, and crop about a half inch off bottom. Just my 2 cents. : )

I like the shot except the model's head should be turned toward the left, as if

looking at a point about 1 inch from top of frame, & 2 inches from left edge of

frame. If it was a candid grab shot, well, you get what you get. : ) Almost good

composition. : ) Study others' photos that really impress you, to see what makes

them so interesting. We all must learn by doing, and observing what others are doing.

In any case, keep shooting and perservering! And keep posting!

  4. At first I didn't like that the young lady with the shopping bag was not sharply focused

and "frozen" in stride, but then it dawned on me that there is a metaphor here; she

is young, healthy and energetic, and thus moving briskly, while the senior lady is no

longer any of these. I don't know if that is what you had in mind, but this is what it

    says to me.

  5. Excellent shot of a usually elusive subject. I've been using peanuts as an

enticement to my neighborhood Jays, but they are v-e-r-r-y cautious. How

long before you were able to get one to hang around for a great picture like this?

    jump...

I think the boy in the water ( with mouth open) helped by letting the airborne boy

stand in his hands and on a signal he tossed & the other jumped. : ) It would be

a stronger composition if it was cropped vertically at the halfway point between the

2 boys in the water at left. But an eye catching photo, nevertheless!

A beautiful girl, and an excellent photo, EXCEPT the eye on the left is as it should be,

but the eye on the right is duller, and therefore distracting. Watch the details. : )

If only the 4th. boat from right could have been between the 2nd. & 3rd. boats

from the left, and the first boat on the left could have been 3rd. from left. : )

Other than that, a great shot. : ) Looks like a calendar shot.
