I'm just getting started with creating my own photography business. Most of my photos are currently family beach shots.
My main questions are:
1. Yes, I need a website. What is the best way to show a client online proofs? I want them to see color corrected versions (when needed) which means that I would do it in photoshop before posting.
2. I've researched some websites and they will not color correct/retouch until an order is placed, which means I can't show a client what the photos will look like until printed.
3. I'm not thrilled with sites that take a commission as I am happy to do the work myself.
4. My brother got married last fall and the photographer gave him a cd of all the photos (no prints). Now he has to find a professional photo lab since he tried one of the popular online ones and the colors were subpar.
Ideally, I'd like a way to have a website with online proofing capabilities that I can then submit to a professional photo lab for prints. I tried smugmug, shutterfly, snapfish, etc. and the quality of the prints doesn't do justice to my photographs, or my desire to portray a more professional service.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Help with nightclub photos
in Casual Photo Conversations
Posted

I am a beginner/intermediate photographer with a goal to start my own business. Right now I'm gaining experience.
I was asked by a friend to shoot photos tomorrow night of his new nightclub -- the shots would include the bands, audience, table groups, etc. I use a Canon 40D. I have a 480EX Speedlite. My question is what lens should I use and what program mode? I know there are ways to go w/out a flash and use manual, but since it's going to be busy, I'd like to go the easiest route until I get more experience.
These are my lenses:
Canon Kit lens - 28 - 135mm IS
Canon 50mm f1.8
Sigma - 28 - 200mm f3.5 - 5.6
Thank you!
