Well, I agree with what you say, but can't help being distracted by that stone (I'm an engineering student, so that might be the problem :-). Yet, I do think you needed something in the front, but maybe just a silhouette... Anyways, it's nice to be able to discuss (so many people don't give any comment, and don't respond to them).

Beautiful rainbow, but the out-of-focus stone in the front spoils it somehow...

I like the upper part, but the lower is too dark; maybe closer to the river would have looked better. -
The lighting is not optimal, and I think it lacks a strong subject; too many elements in the photo IMHO.
