  1. Yep, your right there. No contest at all. How on earth did he keep up without his prop going round. OK, I realise the position you were at, would have made it very differcult to take with a slower shutter speed. Obviously your intent was to get the sharpness and this has been acheived well. Rather hard to pan this one, unless you ran backwards very fast. I'm still uploading some of my latest airshow photo's so I'll take a look at more of yours a little later. Well done on your capture.
  2. Photo taken whilst a pair of Lynx helicopters, from the Royal

Navy "Black Cats" display team, were putting on a great show, just out

to sea at Palm Bay, Margate, UK. This is one photo that I never

expected to get. Yes, there are two helicopter's but aided by the

precision of the pilot's flying skills, I was able to capture them one

directly behind the other. That, with the rotor blades in this position at

the time of the shot, was completly by luck and probably makes this a

once in a life-time photo for me. Any comments or critique are welcome.

    Thankyou for looking.

  3. Sorry for not replying sooner but have been off-line for the last 3 months. Change of address meant that I could no longer stay with my cable internet provider and had to wait to be set up via my new phone-line. The whole proccess seemed so slow. Glad to be back up and running again. Thanks for liking my work. Hopefully, I will be able to add some of this years airshow photo's to my portfolio. Hope you continue to pop by and take a look. ;-)

Thanks Jamie, I was wondering how I could change to rule of thirds. It was late when I read your critique so I missed the funny side of what you was saying. I still need to clear that bit of corner dust though.

Erm..... Sorry Alex, could you repeat all that again. Not sure if it will help me to remember but some may stick. Now it's upto you to redo the title for this photo. It must stay within the arithmatic style I have already chosen.

    Thanks both for liking.

Thanks for pointing out the senser dust spots. I will have them removed later in the day but off to bed soon. Perhaps the house-keeper will do the hoovering for me(only joking). Re. Contrast boost to add visibility of lower aircraft means I will have to work via layers from the original. Another job for after I have rested. Re. F for thirds, Well I thought I did well in capturing both jets in the same shot. Didn't get any time to arrange for them to fly to the thirds area and I feel that cropping would undo the overall balance of the photo. Your critique is very welcome but differcult for me to put in to pratice. Cheers for taking a look. You are welcome to take a look at other photo's in my portfolio when you have spare time. I will check some of yours later, also.
  4. I took many photo's whilst this Bearcat and pilot were displaying

their aerial skills but for photographic quality, I prefered this one

as they came in for landing. Note: On some monitors, you may need to

turn the brightness up a little to enjoy at it's best. Please leave

    any comments. Thanks for looking.

  5. Many thanks all for commenting. Andrew, I'm sorry to say your alteration to my image is pushed far to much for my liking. I prefere the colours to be more natural but thanks for your suggestion. Could it be that your monitor colour setting is set to low because the colour depth and strength appear OK on mine. Always worth a check.
  6. This photo is best viewed large as I have added a slight 3D quality

to the image. Don't blame me if you get burnt for being to close but

just feel the heat. I photographed this one during a war-fare demo as

part of the Biggin Hill(UK) airshow. Thanks for looking.

This comment may confuse most but Well done Martin, Martin will be very pleased when he see's this photo. Nicely timed take-off with great positioning, both off the ground and in the frame. Thumbs up from him and thumbs up from me.
  7. Good to (nearly) see you over the week-end. Just a few hundred yards across the airfield. Excellent photo of the Nimrod. The yellow helps it to stand out well against the clouds. Good and sharp and great prop-blur. I'd say taken at about 200th sec. I Wondered if you had survived from all the smoke that the "Team Guinot" left in their trail. We, over the other-side of the airfield, of course, had an excellent view. I have posted my folder of them in my portfolio, if you wish to visit. I have also been informed that one of my photo's has made it on to the "TRP"(Top Ranked Photo) Page. I am so glad that I purchased a Canon 100-400 IS "L"series lens from some of my TVquiz winnings. Check out my results and let me know what you think. More Duxford photo's to add soon. Cheers again Alex.

  8. Thanks to all that like this one enough to give me their ratings and critique/comments. Cheers Dan for letting me know that this one has made it onto the Top Photo's page. I am very suprized and would have missed my moment of fame, if you hadn't said. Cheers for your support.
  9. Thanks for liking. The crop performed to this photo was very minimal, Mostly just to alter from 3/2 Camera format to A4. I Was lucky that it actually fitted into the frame area. Re. The other photo you like where the pilot is flying straight at me, I think he did it for the camera as the viewing public were actually on the other side of the air-field. Most had to watch through the very dense smoke trails that both planes were leaving behind. Must have been next to impossible for them to take any desent photo's. Glad I got mine.
  10. You are welcome to leave you critique or comments. Boy, am I glad I

bought a Canon 100-400 IS L series lens to go on my 10D. This is just

one of eight that I have recently added to my portfolio of the "Team

Guinot" wing walkers. You are welcome to take a look at my others and

leave any comments if you wish.

  11. Thanks for your comment. I agree with you but I just did not want to lose all that wonderful cloud(some is their smoke from the previous pass). I may have just enough on the original to show them a little more to the right. I will see how it works and may add. Cheers Mike. Ta.

Great up-close photo of a Lion Fish. Brings back memories as I used to care for a pair of these in with my Tropical Marine tank. To anyone that doesn't already know, the Lion fish has a poison, similar to that of a cobra snake, in it's first 11 spines of the dorsil fin. These are only used for defence and they rarely attack. Mine became quiet tame and even recognised me when I went near the tank and used to follow me up and down it's length waiting for any tit-bit I may put in. Thankyou for sharing and thanks for visiting my Portfolio.
