I have just launched this week a new photography blog, Visionists. On photography, seeing and the desire
to create. The camera I am using for it is the r9/dmr. I mention this to my fellow leica forum members
who might be interested seeing some new work as I have not been adding to my portfolio here for some
time,
come by and check it out, thanks paul

leica should be developing film products? why? that is not the future or will be, I would
rather they stay on course with the digital world we now find ourselves, and have a good
business..but what do I know?, I am a middle aged, middle american living in mddle earth.

I have bought overseas from eli kurland. do it by phone though.
I would look here first though for used leicas.

I think they should discontinue it..just like they did the screw mount lenses.
the r10 should have a new set of lenses.. and for the sake of business, make them AF.
would VW still be in business if we all drove around in a 58 beetle?
They of course should engineer in the use of the vintage r lenses for all of us who profess
tradition, nostalgia, or what ever you want to call it.. for me it will be economics.
I for one am looking forward to using my dmr as backup.
Does not one person out there have real sales numbers for the dmr or m8?

still no firmware update..but that is not a mechanical problem.
I have had my back for 1.5 years and the only hiccup was the winder getting out of sync
with it..during an intense amount of shooting I
had to manually wind until I shut down, rebooted. one of the hazzards of having a
removeable back.. in medium format I have to follow a strict sequence of connections to
the back or it won't sync with software and camera.
I have been impressed with it's overall reliability and it has always come through despite
the above.
OT
I find it annoying to have an aperture ad at the bottom of my screen while I type about the
dmr..

are those black orchids?..

can you say paid indorsement? it is an infomercial..and we are proof that it worked.
do you think that camera went back to solms? or was bought at his local camerashop?
but it nice to see that leica is thinking about promotion.

I had a week in saint tropez and thought some might like to see -
I have posted them on flickr
http://www.flickr.com/photos/18952384@N00/sets/
all shot with dmr..( not that it matters at 500 pixels ) 19mm to 135mm<div></div>

I just picked up a velbon cf as well for a upcoming assignment.. need to travel light airline
restriction!! and just me doing the carrying..this is the 640 with the 28mm legs I have an old
beatup linhof ball head that it is going on it.. I like big heavy tripods.. I have the largest
berlebachs both short and tall and I am happiest behind a foba stand..that being said, this
little guy is pretty stable, has multi position legs, removeable and variable length center col..
bad thing, 1/4 screw and smallish
plate to hold head.. but adapter to 3/8 works and ball head is snug..

with apologies to brad for marking up his fine photo.. started at 0 and got to 9 zones all on
his face none seemed to be missing to me..I think that is how ansel taught me to count them
but it has been many years.

KISS...you are overlighting..for effective products on white you need a good drop shadow,
one with some weight..
right now you have too flat of lighting with multiple sources.. keep it simple.. if you want
to
use a soft box and a hard kicker then do your damnest to not see the shadow created by
the kicker.. make it look like you have used just one source.. the box. Another thing to
learn is that the flater in dimension your product is the hard the light needs to be to show
contrast.
You can't use the same source to light a sheet of paper as you would a loaf of bread even
though they are the same size.. here is a shot of a flatish object which I wanted to have
good contrast and not to soft of a drop shadow.. did not us a soft box, but a open
reflector with a scrim of diffussion.

22mp back..after one year on the market my sinar large format cameras were devalued by
half, who would have guessed? Great cameras come and go and M has enjoyed a great
ride..but eventually the "fil-M" will be history same as my graflex 5x7.
The good news is leica is in business and adapting to the 21st century..with new
customers like me coming into their digital fold. I bet there are many sucessful folks who
have always wanted a m but were too busy making money with x,y and z to get one, and
now with the M8 they will
try it out. Hasselblad has already shown that the digital world is not the end of the road
and leica is following suit. What will also hurt the value of the "fil- M" is the dying off of a
generation of collectors like my ww2 vet uncle.

is there a full moon?

if they are good and bring in the sales then yes the 25% if well worth it.. for commercial
sales..fine art sales are off the table as you will have to negoiate a deal like 60/40 with the
gallery..that is how I would approach it.
-
you have to look at the neg to evaluate which one, both, or none, maybe you were spot on
and the scanner screwed up.. only way to know is to print or scan yourself..
having said that my gut tells me overdeveloped or scanned to look overdeveloped.
-
have to agree with stuart, great shots but shows his roots as a newspaper shooter, heavy
handed on dodge and burning. maybe it's suppose to look obvious, to each his own.
