I just tried this with a "DL" and it appears to work.
I really like these cameras for thier manuel lenses and control features

aNYONE HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON TH EBEST PLACE TO REPAIR A cANON i9000 AND PRICE FOR
THE REPAIR. pRINT HEAD IS IN NEED OF ADJUSTMENT
-
Check the seals on the camera. I recently had to replace mine . After all the camera is over 10 years old

You are looking at one of the split matte focusing screens that pentax has on their SLR. Get the camera manual out and read on proper focus with this type screen.
If you do not have the manual download from teh pentax web site

I suppose so. Mine was the purchased version. Also Adobe hs killed the product in favor of it's lightbox product in beta testing now.
A cheaper solution than full CS2 is photoshop elements. However this program lacks the batch processing

Rawshooter supported the PEF file up to it's recent denise. CS2 also supports the pentax format.

check with your local repair shop. I had my K1000 meter replaced for less than $100 along with a seal replacement and cleaning about 1 year ago. Still one of my favorite cameras

what software are you using for your soft proofs?
most image processing programs have a means of downsizing the images and then saving to a new file.
I commonly downsize my photos to web sized to post on my corporate site to save bandwidth. very easy in elements or full photoshop

use a dup. layer. then heal on the top layer. as far as brush shape and hardness i prefer a hard skinny brush angled at 45 to sixty degree. once healed i fade the top layer to allow some blemish to show back and avoid the made up look. many books have sections on better healing tips

simple answer
the sensor capture an image about 3000x2000 pixels
computor monitor display this at 72dpi or 3000/72=about 36 inch
print needs to be about 300 dpi to look smooth or 10 inch
some folks say you can use 180 dpi or strech the photo out to 15"

Check the actions menu. my version has some framing methods preloaded here

back again
the files uploaded fine to my second computer with a built in card reader. I think it was a software bug to chase.
in all do respect to the poster who thinks JPG are equal. the 16 bit files give more flexabilty in all respects

Help Please
I shot some outdoor protraits of a couple of girls and thier baby
sister yersterday This was a series of shots that whenchimped look
real good. They show up very well on my screen but when uploaded to
my laptop they all read as corupted. Any suggestions on what to do ?
Would print directly from my Epson but I am Not sure that the RAW
files will read there.
I hve tried Rawshooter and CS2 to open the files without any success.

the camera store dude is full of __it. the XT is a digital SLR. IE the mirror that reflects the image to the view finder is down when focusing. If you are not as sharp then the lens is probally being tricked by something. Whst focus point are you using? if you are using the all points option then you are probally grabbing an average focus for the frame (this will surprise you on what is in focus and what is not ) try a spot focus point and see if this helps you get the image you need. also buried in the manual you will find a menu for setting the amount of sharpening applied to Jpeg images. adjust this to the desired level. (If you shoot RAW then this is applied in the post process procedure) This is a great camera if you understand the operations. Lastly get a cheap prime lens and try it to really get great detail ef50/1.8 around $100

when in doubt use the following procedure.
1 set up an adjustment layer for threshhold layers/adjustment/threshold
2 find whitest point by adjustmen tof level slider
3 use color sample tool and mark point
4 reopen slider and find darkest points and mark
5 reassign layer for curves and set white and black points from marked areas.
this will give you the full tonality of the shot and leaves you with a nice adjustment layer that can be further manipulated or abandoned without effecting the background

WHere does she live?
I have found several good K-mount bodys with lenses at Pawn shops in Houston Texas. Buyer can get on efor less than $100 including a normal lens, bag, and sometimes a inexpensive zoom. The caveat is they will probally be dirty, need new light seals or have a missing piece but most good repair shops can put it back together for less than 100 more. I have bought three this way and have only 150 in repairs including a new meter cell for a K1000

look for use aperture ring in custom settings and use manual focus. should work if the ricoh lens is truely a K mount..
