i've looked at this shot now for a maximum of 1 1/2 minutes. in the model i see the charm, the comfort and the sexuality of classic 1940's avedon paris. in the lighting i see the harsh deliberate shadow of diane arbus' flash on a white background. i don't know if this combo will work, but it attracts my eye.

i tried to make the musician the main focus of this shot, but with a 1

sec exposure, he was moving too much, and it appears the figure in the

background has taken most of the attention in the image.

anyhow, try to focus on the musician. you can make out a faint smile

on the man as he strums his guitar. i like that. please, tell me

what you think. tell me what you don't think. cheers,

This is the first attempt I've made at a color > b&w conversion from a

digital file. i can see i have lots to learn, at least i know i can

print better than this looks.

please comment on the grayscale range i have achieved and i sincerely

welcome any tips on acheiving truer blacks and overall beter tonal

ranges.
