  1. Okay, so all of you say that I should stick with it, I hear you. 7D is an amazing tool, but how good is a hammer if you can?t get any nails in your local hardware store? If Konika Minolta continues in this direction I would have to settle for used, discontinued, mail order or going to another country for camera equipment, how silly is that? I have an opportunity to start over. I can exchange the 7D for another camera for two weeks to try out, but I can only do it once and the choices I have (within the same price range) are the used Canon 10D or the Nikon D70s. What to do, what to do? Time is running out and I can?t make up my mind. I am freaking out. So here we go again, Nikon vs Canon; show me what you got!
  2. I just got myself a brand new 7D, but then Konica Minolta pulls out

of Canada and now the future seams uncertain. With Canon and Nikon

being the most popular brands here, having a Minolta always did made

me feel like an outcast, (not that there is anything wrong with

    Minolta cameras. I have 3 of them: AF 7000i, 600si with 75-300

    sigma, 28-80/macro, 50 f1.7, 3500xi Minolta flash (which is

incompatible with 7D) and MF X-700 with its own gear). So finally, I

am deciding to switch, but should I?

So far I have spend $1150 (with tax) on the KM 7D body and if I want

to exchange it for another body within this price range it would be

either the Canon 10D-used ($1150) or Nikon D70s ($1200) plus the

cost of some kind of cheep lens.

The question is: Are these brand name cameras worth switching for or

should I make the best of what I have?

I did not have much experience with the other brands other than

Minolta. Long time ago I looked into Canon and I saw the EOS ELAN

7n/ne and I liked it very much and that?s the only Canon I seriously

considered buying, then at a camera show I looked at the 20D, very

impressive but also very expensive, but when I saw the used-10D for

a $1150 it really made me think.

Then there is Nikon. The only experience with Nikon I had was the

F80, which I borrowed from a friend. It was a nice camera and I

enjoyed using it. When I held the 70Ds in my hands it felt familiar,

but plastic, compared to the 7D and 10D. It seams, it was designed

for the ease of use with all the program modes and more less a point

and shoot qualities that someone like my wife would like (who at

this point is pretty much terrified to even touch my 7D). At time I

too would enjoy the point and shoot with good result rather than

    fiddling with the controls?

All that aside, if I switch, I?ll be starting from scratch, one

body, one cheap lens. I say cheap because if I trade in all my

Minolta gear I?ll get peanuts and I can?t buy a good lens with

peanuts. So, the question stands: is it a good idea to say good buy

to Minolta and venture into something new?

What type of photos I take you ask?

I am an amateur. I do landscape, cityscape, macro and lots and lots

of pictures of my beautiful 4 year old daughter.<div>00DxFn-26198084.thumb.JPG.b26cc5691b7f40f86185f443a2c88439.JPG</div>
